1000-Lb Sisters: Amanda Halterman Celebrated Incredible Weight Loss Milestone With A Makeover (She Looks So Different)

1000-lb Sisters star Amanda Halterman has lost a significant amount of weight since having gastric bypass surgery, and she recently celebrated with a whole new look. Premiering in 2020, the unscripted series centers around the weight-loss journeys of Amy Slaton and Tammy Slaton, but some of their other siblings have gotten in on the weight-loss action themselves. 43-year-old Amanda didn’t appear on the show during the first few seasons, as she was going through a divorce from her ex-husband, David halterman.

While many of the Slaton siblings struggled with weight their whole lives, Amanda was always the thin one. Everything changed after the 1000-lb Sisters season 6 star got married and had children. Now that her children are grown up and out of the house, Amanda has turned her focus to herself, embarking on a weight-loss journey of her own. After losing substantial weight, Amanda decided she needed a makeover, and she looked like a whole new woman. Read on to see her new look.

Amanda Halterman’s Weight-Loss Journey

She Had Gastric Surgery Twice

During 1000-lb Sisters season 5, Amanda and her other sister, Misty Slaton Wentworth, announced that they’d both be going in for weight loss surgery on the same day. “Me and Misty’s been going to see Dr. Smith,” Amanda told her siblings. Dr. Eric Smith is the bariatric surgeon who treated several of the other Slatons. Amy, Tammy, and their brother, 43-year-old Christ Slaton, had already had the surgery, so they knew the risk Amanda and Misty were taking. With the support of their concerned siblings, Amanda and Misty both had bariatric surgery on the same day, in March 2023.

This wasn’t Amanda’s first time under the knife, as she had bariatric surgery in 2014, long before appearing on 1000-lb Sisters. Amanda lost over 300 pounds after her first weight-loss surgery, but found herself putting the weight back on. Since having surgery, Amanda has lost a significant amount of weight, and looks like a whole new woman.

Amanda Tested Out Some Looks

She Didn’t Make A Rash Decision

Amanda didn’t rush into her new look. In July, Amanda posted TikTok photos of herself trying out different hair colors and styles in an app. In some of the test photos, she’s rocking bright, colorful shades of pink and blue, while in one photo, Amanda’s wearing long wavy hair.

Amanda Got A Whole New Look

She’s In Her Classic Era

Amanda recently posted a TikTok in which she talked about a beloved family friend while showing off her new look. She cut her long hair to a more polished shoulder-length. Amanda has had her ups and downs during 1000-lb Sisters season 6, even getting into a huge fight with both Amy and Tammy. It’s unclear how much weight Amanda has lost, but it’s a significant amount because she looks like a different person.

Amanda Needed A Change

Losing a considerable amount of weight probably isn’t the only reason Amanda wants to make a major change. The 1000-lb Sisters season 6 co-star went through a difficult breakup fairly recently. Amanda, seen above on her “surgeriversy” was in a serious relationship with a man named RJ. The relationship was so serious that she moved to Florida to be with him. In May, RJ went out of state to visit family, and he never came back. He simply ghosted her without any warning, after she moved away from her family to be with him.

After RJ ghosted her, Amanda tried calling and texting him, to no avail. She even tried to contact members of his family who she’d come to know, but she received no response. Going through a break-up is hard enough, but for someone to do it in such a disrespectful manner must have been extremely painful for Amanda. Though she was devastated by the loss, she should feel good about the fact that she dodged a bullet.

She Lost More Than Just Weight

After the devastating break-up, Amanda moved in with her sister, Amy, for a while. Amy had recently divorced her husband, Michael Halterman, and she was now a single mother raising two little boys, Gage and Glenn Halterman. Adjusting to life as a single mom was challenging for Amy, so it was nice having her sister around. Amanda has raised her own four children into adulthood, and she clearly loves her little nephews. Now that Amanda is single again, it’s understandable that she wants a new look to go along with her new single life.

1000-lb Sisters season 6 airs on Tuesdays at 9 pm ET/PT on TLC.
