$140M Box Office Smash is Finally Streaming Its New Season After Just A 1-Year Wait


The latest season of the celebrated historical religious series The Chosen has finally hit Amazon Prime Video. Following its impressive $140 million box office success, The Chosen season 5 is available to stream at home for the first time ever. The Chosen, created by Dallas Jenkins, is based on the life of Jesus and set against the backdrop of Roman oppression in first-century Israel. Unlike the vast majority of TV shows, which are released on cable or streaming, new episodes of The Chosen season 5 were released in movie theaters in March 2025 and were shown in three parts.

The Chosen Had An Impressive Box Office Run Earlier This Year

The first two episodes of The Chosen season 5, titled “Entry” and “House of Cards”, were released on Amazon Prime Video on Sunday, June 15, 2025. In a similar fashion to The Chosen season 5’s theatrical release schedule, the latest season of the biblical series will be released in three installments. The Chosen season 5, episodes 3–5, titled “Woes”, “The Same Coin”, and “Because of Me”, will be released on Sunday, June 22, 2025, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. The final three episodes of The Chosen season 5, titled “Reunions”, “The Upper Room Part I”, and “The Upper Room Part II”, will be released on Sunday, June 29, 2025.
