Apple TV+’s Mythic Quest
is a promising comedy series from an underrated streaming platform, but the show has a lot to offer that puts it on par with other popular shows with a similar vibe. Mythic Quest is a comedy series that follows a group of people who work in a popular video game publishing company. As such, the team is large, with various people in different teams that all have contradicting and intriguing personalities.
From the video game testers, to accountants and heads of HR, there are plenty of different characters to engage with. And leading the charge is the eccentric creator of their most popular game, Ian Grimm, played by Rob McElhenney, who also helped to create and write the series. This workplace comedy, mixed with occasional video game graphics, and plenty of eccentric characters, is a wonderful blend of comedy, emotion, and fun. It also evokes a similar style of comedy and fun as other popular shows that follow similar patterns.
Silicon Valley
Silicon Valley Follows Some Tech Entrepreneurs Through The Challenging World Of Business
One of the most similar shows that springs to mind is Silicon Valley. This award-winning comedy series is set in the high-paced tech industry based in Silicon Valley, California. A team of individuals who work together at a large tech company need to work hard to keep up with the competition, and ensure they don’t fall behind despite the break-neck pace of change and development.

While Silicon Valley wrapped in 2019, Mythic Quest provides an incredible alternative for fans of the series looking for something to fill the void.
It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia
IASIP Has A Lot In Common Behind The Scenes
While It’s Sunny in Philadelphia takes the story to a very different part of America, and trades in the high-tech high rise office for a dingy local bar, it shares a lot in common with the style of comedy and sense of humor from MQ. This is likely because Rob McElhenney is actually a creator, writer, and star on both shows. In addition, he is joined by IASIP co-star, Charlie Day, and IASIP producer and director Megan Ganz in creating and writing MQ.
There is a lot to love in both shows, and both have continued to land consistently high ratings throughout their runs. Admittedly, as IASIP enters its 17th season, it’s clear that the show has an established and dedicated fanbase, but thanks to the crossover in talent behind the scenes, this also speaks to the potential for MQ to have many more years of success.
In a similar vein, Community is a show that stars Danny Pudi, who also has a prominent role as Brad Bakshi in Mythic Quest. While Pudi’s characters in each show have striking contrasts, the performance of the actor is equally brilliant in either show. Community leans into absurd, experimental, and wild comedy, changing style from episode to episode, and it led to a dedicated fanbase who appreciate and admire the creativity and fun of the show.

Secret Level
A Video Game Anthology Series
Secret Level is perhaps one of the boldest anthology shows of recent years. Debuting on Prime Video, the anthology video game series is another show that experiments with style and tone from episode to episode, though much more drastically in the case of Secret Level. Each episode highlights a different video game, and offers viewers a thrilling experience as the art and narrative change.
Mythic Quest is not afraid to experiment with the format.
This is certainly a departure in many ways from Mythic Quest, but in the sense that it follows video games, and resonates with fans of this space, it’s a worthy watch in association with Mythic Quest. However, as an anthology show, every episode is different, and that means some episodes will connect with audiences more than others.
Superstore
Superstore Highlights The Brilliance Of Simple Workplace Comedies
Finally, Superstore stands out as another great modern office workplace comedy set in a large general goods store. While this setting is evidently less high-energy, and more ordinary, the show does a great job at highlighting the fun and excitement that can come out of ordinary settings. It also features an exceptional cast with America Ferrera as the central figure, alongside standout performances from people like Ben Feldman, Lauren Ash, and Nico Santos.
