Marvel Zombies Infects a Beloved X-Men Member in This Epic Live-Action Tribute

Marvel Zombies takes place in a terrifying alternate universe where the X-Men, Avengers, Fantastic Four, and the rest of the Marvel Universe have succumbed to a flesh-craving virus, with the Ragin’ Cajun named Gambit being one of the many unlucky victims of this undead transformation. In a new series of cosplay photos, Gambit’s zombie variant gets a live-action tribute that proves the MCU deserves a big screen Marvel Zombies adaptation, and soon.

Recently sharing these chilling Marvel Zombies images on social media via Instagram, Aye Em Bonesie (@zombonezie) is no stranger to creating homemade Hollywood-level costumes, with this Gambit cosplay joining Aye Em’s stellar Zombie Star-Lord and Zombie Doctor Strange designs. Also cosplaying as a non-zombified Gambit and X-Men ’97’s white-suited version of the character who perished in the Sentinel’s attacks on Genosha, Aye Em proves he knows exactly what makes a good live-action adaptation work with this Zombie Gambit design along with the help of cosplay community photographer Mark (@nycosplayer) solidifying Aye Em as one of the best creators around.

The X-Men’s Gambit Gets a Terrifying Live-Action Zombie Redesign in New Cosplay Images

Cosplay Design by Aye Em Bonesie (@zombonezie)

Spinning out of the original Ultimate Universe, the first Marvel Zombies series, written by The Walking Dead‘s Robert Kirkman and illustrated by Sean Phillips, depicted the alternate world of Earth-2149 after it fell to ruin when a virus ravaged most of its superhero population. Reimagining traditional zombie lore by allowing those infected to retain their intelligence and powers, Marvel Zombies, since its inception in 2005, has released nearly ten miniseries, a slew of one-shots and specials, and an upcoming animated television show, making this Gambit cosplay the best way to tide fans over until more Marvel Zombies content is available.

If You Think Marvel Zombies Is Dark, Spider-Man Just Made the Undead Even Worse

The Marvel Zombies world might be one of the most grim in Marvel’s multiverse, but Spider-Man is ushering in an even darker, more brutal plague.

Sharing two different looks of Aye Em’s cosplay in the same post, the first image sees Gambit framed up close as he flashes a flesh-stripped skeletal grin, with his toothy smile creepily selling Remy’s undead design while simultaneously showing Gambit’s body decaying right before our very eyes. Looking ravenous but still ready for a fight in the second image, fans get a full-body view of Aye Em’s cosplay design here that highlights Gambit’s battle-worn and zombie-ravaged outfit, with Aye Em holding Gambit’s signature staff weapon high in the air, its pent-up energy no doubt reserved for Zombie Gambit’s next victim.

As a bonus, both images of this post add a pint-sized Zombie Ant-Man, cosplayed to perfection by Haunted Cosplay (@hauntedcosplay), on the shoulder of and alongside Aye Em’s Gambit, leaving fans wondering what kind of team-up attack an undead Remy and Ant-Man could unleash while on their never-ending crusade for flesh. Although its animated series is only a few months away, there are no new Marvel Zombies comics currently announced, with Aye Em Bonesie’s (@zombonezie) Gambit cosplay showing that if the X-Men ever became flesh-eating monsters in the MCU, the filmmakers need look no further for the perfect visual inspiration.
