Everyone’s Played The Best Farming Game All Of Time, But You’re Missing Out If You Haven’t Married This Character

While farming games like Harvest Moon have been around since the 90s, they’ve been exploding in popularity over the past few years, with more than a few outstanding endeavors. While Harvest Moon set the standard for farming sim games to follow, plenty of additions over the years like Stardew Valley have added their own unique spin on the genre to keep things fresh. Regardless of how many farming simulators you’ve played before, there’s no doubt that you’ve at least heard of the most influential and popular farming game of them all.

Despite farming simulators having plenty of room for addictive gameplay, one of the features that’s become a growing focus in the genre is the dateability of each game’s NPCs. While not the main focus of the game, friendship and romance are a great way to keep players engaged with more immersive mechanics, all while learning more about the game world and its inhabitants. Even with the use of great romance mods, few games have a loveable character anywhere close to one of Stardew Valley‘s more unique life-partners.

Are You Even A Stardew Fan If You Haven’t “Married” Krobus?

Stardew Valley’s Best Roommate Was Right Under Your Nose All Along

Given that some players might have never even met Krobus, let alone “married” him, it’s the perfect way to experience a brand-new side of Stardew you’ve never seen before. Much like regular marriage candidates in Stardew Valley, you’ll need to increase your friendship with the kind monster with his favorite gifts and progress through his heart events. Once you’ve maxed out Krobus’ friendship stat, you’ll need to gift him a Void Ghost Pendant to seal the deal with your new platonic pal. While there’s no fancy ceremony, your new life living with the friendly monster has only just begun.

The required Void Ghost Pendant to move in with Krobus can be bought for 200 Void Essence at the desert trader.

The main differences between Krobus and standard marriage candidates are that, rather than being your official spouse, Krobus is simply a roommate who’s happy to have a new best friend to hang out with. Given the unique nature of this new relationship, kissing your spouse is replaced with hugging instead, after which a smiling emote will appear rather than a romantic heart. Despite the differences, Krobus can still give you gifts depending on the weather and change home decor while you’re away, which understandably puts off some players given his sewer-like sense of style.

Why You Should Room With Krobus Next Time

Learning Much More About The Weird World Of Stardew Valley

One of the main advantages of taking your friendship with Krobus to the next platonic level is that it unlocks the 13-heart Stardrop requirement without having to explicitly romance anyone, allowing you to be an independent farmer who doesn’t need romantic love to thrive. Although this means you can’t have children with Krobus, he’s still more than happy to support you as a friend in raising any offspring from your previous marriages.

Despite not having as many in-game advantages or spousal activities, Krobus has some of the most interesting dialogue options to unlock out of all of Stardew‘s marriage candidates. While it might look like you’re a loner with a strange sense of home decor from the villagers’ perspective, Krobus is the perfect companion for someone wanting a simple farming life. Whether you want to avoid relationship drama, just want to room with a friendly monster, or learn more about the lore of Stardew Valley‘s wacky world, Krobus is an excellent companion for your next playthrough.
