Kraven the Hunter
in 2024 presents a chance for Crowe to redeem his Rotten Tomatoes decline.
Russell Crowe has been in the midst of a bad Rotten Tomatoes streak that his recent war thriller finally broke, although his success only lasted so long. Although Russell Crowe’s movies have made him a highly-respected actor, even he isn’t safe from poor Rotten Tomatoes trends. The Gladiator actor has racked up some truly amazing scores over the course of his career. However, the past two years haven’t been exactly kind. If it weren’t for Crowe’s role in a 2024 war film, the streak would be even longer. Then again, even one winner isn’t enough to fully turn the tables.
Like any actor, Russell Crowe has starred in some amazing movies, and some total flops. For example, his breakout role in L.A. Confidential earned him a Certified Fresh 99% critics’ score. Other iconic Russell Crowe movies that defined his career, like A Beautiful Mind and Gladiator, have also garnered strong scores: 74% and 80%, respectively. However, Crowe’s failures aren’t easily ignored. His 2022 movie Poker Face earned him his lowest score yet, 9%. Recently, these green splatters have been all over Crowe’s Rotten Tomatoes page. Yet, one movie has been able to briefly change the tide.

gripping tale of survival and bravery brought what Crowe’s previous comedies and historical dramas could not.

Russell Crowe’s Next Two Movies Couldn’t Continue Land Of Bad’s Rotten Tomatoes Redemption
Crowe’s Rotten Tomatoes Streak Continues Once Again
Although Land of Bad disrupted Russell Crowe’s bad Rotten Tomatoes streak, the actor wasn’t able to pull himself fully out of his rut. Crowe has released two more movies since Land of Bad, and both of them have received green splats on the review website. Sleeping Dogs earned a 39%, while The Exorcism got a 28%. This begs the question: what did Land of Bad do right? Perhaps Crowe is delving into the wrong genres. Maybe he is picking scripts that don’t reach their full potential. However, there is one interesting trend within this streak that can be examined.

Crowe’s last few movies have been given unfortunate critics’ scores on Rotten Tomatoes, yet the audience scores tell a completely different story. Of Crowe’s six poorly rated movies since 2022, half of them had very good audience scores. The Greatest Beer Run Ever had a 91%, The Pope’s Exorcist had an 81%, and Sleeping Dogs received an 85%. What this reveals is that Crowe’s movies aren’t necessarily bad. They simply aren’t living up to critics’ expectations. If audiences can still find his movies entertaining, then Crowe has nothing to worry about.
Kraven The Hunter Can Rescue Russell Crowe’s 2024 Rotten Tomatoes Decline
Crowe Has One More Chance In 2024
The past two years have been disheartening for Russell Crowe, at least in terms of Rotten Tomatoes, but there is still hope. Crowe has one more movie set to premiere in 2024, and it could be the one to finally break his curse. Kraven the Hunter is slated for December 13, 2024. Crowe will play the eponymous Kraven’s estranged father, Nikolai Kravinoff.
Considering that Kraven the Hunter is a Marvel property, there is a good chance that the movie could succeed, both at the box office and among critics. It also helps that Kraven the Hunter’s cast includes impressive names like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ariana Debose, and Christopher Abbott. All in all, Russell Crowe still has a chance to turn things around. However, even if he doesn’t, the actor’s reputation likely won’t sustain too much of a blow.
