Upcoming Star Wars Shows: Story, Casts & Everything We Know

Several exciting Star Wars TV shows are set to be released on Disney+ in the coming years from the realm of both live-action and animation.

The trailer for Rebuild the Galaxy, as shared by Star Wars, gives Luke his own spotlight in addition to a variety of other fascinating moments. There’s no limit to the array of crazy combinations that occur in this new galaxy: Ewok bounty hunters, Mon Calamari/Admiral Ackbar clone troopers, and even a “dark” Millennium Falcon piloted by none other than Darth Jar Jar himself. Hamill’s Luke Skywalker is a lowkey beach dude in this version of the galaxy who doesn’t take a liking to hearing what his story’s supposed to look like.

Star Wars has also announced other cast members alongside Matarazzo and Hamill, including the return of more notable Star Wars actors.

Hamill’s return is extremely exciting, but it’s not the only notable Star Wars return. Ahmed Best will be reprising his role as Jar Jar Binks, and this time, it’s to bring a popular fan theory to life. The Darth Jar Jar theory is one of the Star Wars fandom’s favorites, and Rebuild the Galaxy is finally going to offer Star Wars viewers their first true look at this iconic fan-made villain. Having Best return as the voice of Jar Jar only makes it even more special.

Star Wars hasn’t just stopped there with its Darth Jar Jar, however. In addition to the trailer, Star Wars has released a collection of iconic Star Wars movie posters recreated with different characters according to their roles in Rebuild the Galaxy, one of which centers on Jar Jar. It takes the notable Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace poster that featured Jake Lloyd’s young Anakin Skywalker alongside a shadow of Darth Vader and puts Jar Jar in his place, hilariously yet faithfully recreating the memorable poster.

While LEGO Star Wars isn’t technically canon, this TV series will be a fun look at the what-ifs of the Star Wars galaxy, something many viewers have long since been asking for. Darth Jar Jar is certainly one of the biggest what-ifs audiences have been wanting to see, and the trailer promises another popular one that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hinted at: Darth Rey. Viewers can likely expect to see many more surprises in LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, which premieres in just under a month on Disney+.
