Warning! Spoilers ahead for Batman #151!Superman’s scariest doppelganger Bizarro has returned and Amanda Waller has taken the liberty of providing him with a sinister upgrade. Batman is on a stealth mission to aid his allies during Absolute Power. But the backward Man of Steel’s newest asset could prove to be too mighty for the Dark Knight.
In Batman #151 by Chip Zdarsky, Mike Hawthorne, and Adriano Di Benedetto, Batman and Catwoman sneak into Okinawa to find the Mother Box Waller has hidden. Unfortunately, during their search, they run into Waller’s latest Suicide Squad. To make matters worse, Bizarro is alive and he’s been upgraded with Brainiac tech.
Bizarro uses his new, robotic arm to throttle Batman, though he manages to get away. After discovering the Boom Tube Waller has created, Bruce and Selina travel through it and wind up on Czarnia. However, they’re followed by the Suicide Squad with the new and improved Bizarro leading the way.
Bizarro’s Power Has Been Upgraded Thanks to Brainiac Tech
Just before Waller upended the lives of every metahuman in the DC Universe, she assembled a new Suicide Squad to help her seize Gamorra so she could use it to house her metahuman prisoners. A crucial part of this team was Bizarro, who Waller manipulated thanks to the backward brute’s desire to be appreciated as a hero. However, Bizarro turned against Waller thanks to Dreamer, who finally managed to convince him that Waller was evil. Bizarro helped Dreamer escape captivity, but unfortunately, Bizarro was killed by Deadshot, who shot the Superman copycat straight through the head with a kryptonite bullet.
It’s no surprise that Bizarro is back since he’s survived worse. And it’s not shocking that Waller has access to Brainiac tech given how she’s worked with Brainiac before. But it is interesting to see her combine the two. Bizarro’s already a powerhouse with Kryptonian speed and strength. But Brainiac’s technology is some of the most advanced in the DC Universe. While not much of Bizarro’s new enhancements are seen, he’s able to stand up to Batman’s strongest weapons. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of secrets this amalgamation of Superman villains could potentially be hiding.
Waller’s Bizarro/Brainiac Fusion is Her Secret Weapon
Waller doesn’t do anything without a specific reason for it. She’s not going to have her people waste time giving Bizarro an upgrade like Brainiac tech and expect nothing from it. Waller likely hopes that if any metahumans prove to be too dangerous or crafty she can use her ultimate weapon to quash them without mercy. Even Batman admits that he wouldn’t survive Bizarro in a direct fight and neither would many other heroes. Bizarro’s upgrade is making the Superman clone stronger and more of a threat than ever and that could spell danger for the DC Universe’s heroic resistance.
Batman #151 is available now from DC Comics.
