WARNING: SPOILERS ahead for Bad Monkey episode 8.
Bad Monkey episode 8 “The Russian Mob Is Very Active in Key West” begins with an intense shootout at Yancy’s home. Following the events of Bad Monkey episode 7, which ended with the cliffhanger of several armed gunmen outside of Yancy’s house with Rosa, Jim, and Cody inside, episode 8 finds Yancy ducking for cover and fighting for his life in his own living room. It’s not long before Yancy realizes that Pestov, Madeline’s new Russian boyfriend, was hired by the cowardly realtor Evan, not Nick and Eve Stripling. Vince Vaughn leads the ensemble cast of Bad Monkey which also features Michelle Monaghan, Scott Glenn, and Rob Delaney.
At the end of Bad Monkey episode 6, Nick and Eve intimidate Grace, aka the Dragon Queen, by kidnapping her and Rosa finds a badly wounded Neville who was shot by Egg. The first two episodes of Bad Monkey showcased the interwoven narratives of several main characters, including Nick and Neville, which now overlap in interesting ways. Scrubs alum Zach Braff made a guest appearance in Bad Monkey episode 3 as the short-lived drug-addled doctor O’Peele, while Bad Monkey episode 4 went back in time to reveal how Nick and Eve planned their extreme insurance scam, while Bad Monkey episode 5 saw the shocking return of Plover’s, aka Bonnie, inappropriate love interest Cody.

Yancy & Rosa’s Plan To Trap Nick & Eve Explained
Caitlin helped them stage a fake business meeting in Andros
In Bad Monkey episode 8, Yancy and Rosa hatch a plan to take down Nick and Eve on their own terms. Bad Monkey episode 7 saw Yancy getting his badge back and being reinstated as a police detective in the Florida Keys, but his regained authority has very little effect on the bureaucratic forces at play, headed by Director Rhodes, who are more interested in reclaiming Nick and Eve’s stolen assets than enforcing swift justice. Yancy and Rosa head to Andros themselves with the help of Nick’s daughter Caitlin, who still hates him for siding with Eve over her in a previous episode. Caitlin pretends she met a wealthy friend (Rosa) who is interested in purchasing a lot of Nick and Eve’s land in Andros.
Caitlin helps set her dad up because he has lied to her and hidden the truth about his and Eve’s insurance scam, making Caitlin want nothing to do with him. Instead of playing ball with her dad and Eve, she made the right choice and assisted Yancy and Rosa knowing very well that her dad would face years in prison if he got caught. Caitlin informs Yancy and Rosa that Nick and Eve never leave their estate in Andros, which gives Yancy and Rosa the confidence to go out to a local bar and befriend an apparent local named J.J. Claspers. Yancy figures out that Claspers is the pilot that Nick and Eve use when flying from Florida to Andros.
The next day, Rosa meets with Nick and Eve under a false name, pretending that she is interested in buying a piece of their Andros property. She is able to convince Eve to fly out to Miami to receive a cash payment for the lot, bonding with Eve over how much she “dislikes” Caitlin, which immediately wins Eve over. Once Nick and Eve are back on American soil, law enforcement can then step in and arrest them. However, considering Nick and Eve’s psychotic capacity for cold-blooded murder, it’s very likely that they would go out Bonnie and Clyde style with guns blazing if they were ever surrounded by police in the U.S.
How Eve Discovered Rosa’s True Identity
Nick & Eve uncharacteristically go to a bar before the hurricane
Still under the impression that Nick and Eve never leave their property, Yancy, Rosa, and Claspers take a Polaroid picture together that gets pinned on a photo board at the bar. With a hurricane heading straight for the east coast of Florida, everyone in the area traditionally goes out for drinks to alleviate their anxieties about the impending storm. Nick and Eve even fall into this category and stroll into a local bar, the same one that Yancy, Rosa, and Claspers were at the night before. While Yancy and Rosa hang out with Neville and his on-and-off love interest, Nick heads to the bar to get Eve a drink, who spots the freshly taken Polaroid picture of Yancy, Rosa, and Claspers right there on the wall.
Is Gracie Really Leaving Her Life Behind In Andros?
She told Egg that she will be gone like a puff of smoke
Gracie is undoubtedly the most mysterious character in Bad Monkey, so it’s not entirely surprising when she suddenly up and leaves her newfound life with Egg behind. Although Egg is tough, he is clearly upset by Gracie’s decision, since he was starting to fall in love with her. While she and Egg were hanging out on Eve and Nick’s new boat, Gracie quietly left with Nick’s $250,000 watch, which she intends to sell and be set up for a while. In order for her to be safe from Nick if and when he discovers she stole his watch, Gracie has to flee Andros and lie low somewhere after she sells it. Egg isn’t aware Gracie stole the watch but if Nick finds out, he may be forced to track her down.
Why Bonnie Blew Up Yancy’s Neighbor’s House
Bonnie wanted to be punished for what she did to Cody
Bonnie has a shocking turn of events when she is released from police custody after turning herself in. Bonnie takes Yancy’s words to heart when he tells her that the only way to alleviate her guilt for ruining Cody’s innocence is to take accountability for her actions. This strangely makes Bonnie excited to serve her prison sentence but as it turns out, the state of Oklahoma dismissed her case, meaning that she was free to go. Bonnie takes her freedom and purchases 20 cans of gasoline, using it to blow up Yancy’s neighbor’s house that the realtor is trying to sell. Bonnie sees this maniacal felony as a way to thank Yancy for giving her life-changing advice while also forcing herself to be punished for what she did to Cody through other means.
Was Yancy & Gracie’s Chance Encounter A Coincidence?
There may be no such thing as a coincidence in the world of Bad Monkey
More seemingly unrelated characters overlap in Bad Monkey episode 8, the most interesting of these chance encounters being between Gracie and Yancy. Yancy is the first to notice Gracie with Nick’s $250,000 watch, which she is boldly observing in broad daylight outside the café where Neville works in Andros. Yancy recognizes the watch as Nick’s and is able to convince Gracie to tell him what she knows about Nick and Eve, only for her to disappear before that conversation can start. Gracie says that her Ya-Ya would not consider this chance encounter a coincidence at all. Similar to Rosa and Yancy meeting Claspers at the bar and Eve discovering their photo at the end of episode 8, there may be no such thing as a condition in the world of Bad Monkey.
