With Below Deck season 111 over and done with, fans are excited to learn more about two-season wonder deckhand Ben Willoughby. He first joined season 10 of the long-running Bravo series with Captain Lee Rosbach and his crew in the Caribbean on the St. David. There were several returning members of the cast, including chef Rachel Hargrove and chief stew Fraser Olender. The crew worked on the largest yacht in Below Deck history, guiding guests through the beautiful island of St. Lucia.
Due to the nature of the show, Below Deck fans are used to a rotating cast of characters. Each season typically brings along new deckhands, stews, and other staff on board the ship. On Below Deck season 10, which was Captain Lee’s final season, had an almost completely new crew, including Australian-born Ben, a deckhand on board the St. David. Also new to the show were Ross McHarg, Hayley De Sola Pinto, Alissa Humber, Camille Lamb, Tony Duarte, and Katie Glaser. Ben then returned for Below Deck season 11, where he didn’t have the best showing.
Ben Willoughby’s Age
Below Deck star Ben Willoughby, who is 29 and originally from the Gold Coast of Australia, will be working as a deckhand on the St. David. As a thrill-seeker, working on a motor yacht is a great career choice for Ben, who also has done some personal training on board other ships. Ben’s social media is full of lush photos that document his travels, alongside personal posts about his lifestyle and fitness.
Ben Willoughby’s Career
In the Below Deck season 10 trailer, which dropped at BravoCon, Ben was shown doing more than just working and traveling. The Below Deck crew almost always gets into trouble between dealing with their jobs and having fun, sometimes to the detriment of their positions. Ben and Camille seem to be getting steamy in the trailer, much to the chagrin of their fellow crewmates. Ben and Camille were a large storyline through season 10 and provided the most drama. Ben also brought a lot of drama during season 11 with his boatmance with Sunny Marquis.
Ben Willoughby’s Instagram
Though he has not posted about Below Deck much on his social media, it is clear through Ben’s photos that he enjoys the “yachtie” lifestyle. He has worked professionally on yacht crews for most of his adult life, and documents this thoroughly on his social media accounts. Much like returning Chief Stew Fraser Olender, Ben seemed like he would be a long-term addition to the franchise. However, after season 11, Ben found himself at odds with the audience and will likely not return for season 12.
What Is Ben Up To In 2024?
After Ben’s terrible showing in Below Deck season 11, he laid low as he received a lot of negative backlash. During the season, Ben was called out for overstepping Bosun Jared Woodin and his relationship with Sunny. After Jared was fired and Ben took over the role, he continued to hook up with Sunny despite him being her boss. While this looked bad from the viewer’s perspective, Ben and Sunny confirmed they continued their relationship outside the show following the season 11 finale. As of November 2024, Ben and Sunny are still in a relationship.
