Upcoming Star Wars Shows: Story, Casts & Everything We Know

Quick Links

More Star Wars TV shows are on the horizon now than ever before. Disney has evolved Star Wars into a trailblazing transmedia franchise of interconnected books, comics, video games, and a stunning range of Disney+ TV shows. The Mandalorian was essentially the flagship Disney+ program, released as a launch title for the streaming service in 2019.

The TV shows are set at different points in the Star Wars timeline. The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka are spin-offs of The Mandalorian, set roughly five years after Return of the Jedi. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor both take place during the Dark Times of the Galactic Empire – as does the animated series Star Wars: The Bad Batch, a spin-off of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Now, even more Star Wars TV shows are on the way, along with new seasons of existing installments in Disney’s TV library.

4 Andor Season 2

The highly anticipated sequel to Andor will now be released in 2025

Release date

April 22, 2025

Cast

Diego Luna (Cassian Andor), Stellan Skarsgård (Luthen Rael), Genevieve O’Reilly (Mon Mothma), Forest Whitaker (Saw Gerrera), Faye Marsay (Vel), Varada Sethu (Cinta), Adria Arjona (Biix Caleen), Joplin Sibtain (Brasso), Kyle Soller (Syril Karn), Denise Gough (Dedra Meero), Andy Serkis (Kino Loy)

After a critically acclaimed first season, Andor season 2 will complete the story of Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor. Creator Tony Gilroy has already explained the structure of Andor season 2, with every three of the 12 total episodes marking a year of Cassian’s life leading up to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Andor season 2 was originally slated for an August 2024 release, but it has since been delayed to April 22, 2025.

Andor Season 2: Story, Updates, & Everything We Know

Andor season 1 ended with an explosive finale, leading many to wonder what season 2 has in store for the characters of Star Wars’ most exciting show.

Andor season 2 will see the return of characters from Rogue One, including K-2SO and Director Orson Krennic, as it continues to bridge the gap between Andor season 1 and Cassian’s debut movie. It’s also expected to show key events such as the Ghorman Massacre, the catalyst for Mon Mothma’s fall from grace in the Imperial Senate. Given the success of Andor season 1, there’s no doubt that season 2 is going to, at minimum, match the hype with its story.

1 The Mandalorian Season 4

The future of The Mandalorian is a mystery right now

It’s currently unclear whether The Mandalorian season 4 will happen, given mixed rumors about its fate after Lucasfilm announced Din Djarin’s story would continue in the next Star Wars movie. Some reports claim it will still happen, while others say that it has been canceled outright, with the scripts adapted into The Mandalorian and Grogu. Hopefully, it won’t be long before Lucasfilm clarifies, helping viewers know what to expect from the future of Star Wars.
