Consequently, many fans on outlets like Reddit theorized that Jason Ritter’s bonus episode character was Cabin Guy, with the “standalone” entry focusing on his backstory prior to his inevitably tragic death in the wilderness.

Since Ritter’s episode has yet to see the light of day and the prospects of its release continue to look grim, his mysterious Yellowjackets character still hasn’t been confirmed over the past two years. Since Jason Ritter is holding a baby in his behind-the-scenes images, the fate of the child and whether they’re alive in Yellowjackets’ past timeline may also be significant plot reveals that the series wants to save until an opportune time. Will Yellowjackets’ Bonus Episode Ever Be Released?

The Prospects Don’t Look Good For The Episode To Air

Currently, it doesn’t look like Showtime has any plans to release Yellowjackets’ bonus episode – at least not anytime soon. It’s still unclear why the bonus episode never aired between seasons 2 and 3, especially after Yellowjackets’ streaming viewership success on Paramount+. Whether it’s because of the contents of the outing, needing to find the right space in Showtime’s release schedule, budgetary concerns, or various other reasons, Yellowjackets’ “lost” bonus episode unreleased status doesn’t look likely to change ahead of the show’s season 4 return.

That said, it would be a shame for the episode to never be released.
