Nam-ra and Su-hyeok’s relationship in All of Us Are Dead season 2 could be in trouble given how the first season of Netflix’s zombie K-drama ended. With the show having covered all of the source material already, it can be difficult to theorize what will happen in All of Us Are Dead season 2. However, season 1’s ending gives some clues regarding where the series is heading next, especially when looking at the differences between All of Us Are Dead episode 12 and the webtoon. In Now At Our School, Nam-ra was found to be the key to a cure.
In the Netflix K-drama, Nam-ra’s return had nothing to do with a potential cure and more with the existence of other hambies in Hyosan. While these characters are not shown, Nam-ra mentions she has found other people like her. The finale implies that these other hambies helped Nam-ra control her powers, which is why she seemed much happier and more peaceful compared to the last time we had seen her. While Nam-ra reuniting with her friends was exciting, she might not be able to come back with them.
Nam-ra Will Have Bigger Concerns In All Of Us Are Dead 2 Than Reuniting With Her Friends
Nam-ra Is Now Living With Other Hambies
According to Nam-ra, those other hambies that survived the destruction of Hyosan need help. The military is certainly making no distinction between traditional and asymptomatic zombies, meaning that every surviving hambie is now a target. The final episode of All of Us Are Dead season 1 doesn’t make clear how long Nam-ra has been living with these other hambies and how organized they are, but the fact is that she now has new friends to worry about. Nam-ra may live up to her “class president” title and become the leader of the hambies.
All of Us Are Dead
season 2 doesn’t have a release date.
This means that, for now, Nam-ra will not have the time to go back with her friends and reconnect with Su-hyeok. Additionally, it is safe to say that a hambie will never be accepted in a quarantine encampment. Unless Su-hyeok and the others abandon the encampment, they cannot be with Nam-ra. Between Nam-ra’s new hambie friends and the fact she could never enter the military encampment, I can’t see an easy for her and Su-hyeok to be together in season 2.
There was a bittersweet note to Nam-ra and Su-hyeok’s reunion at the end of episode 12. They exchanged eye contact but did not address each other, suggesting that it might not be easy for them to reconnect in season 2. The last time Su-hyeok and Nam-ra had seen each other, she almost killed On-jo during a moment of rage caused by the zombie virus. On the one hand, Nam-ra now can apparently control her powers. On the other hand, it’s too soon for the Hyosan High survivors to have a happily ever after.
Nam-ra & Su-hyeok’s Relationship Was One Of The Best Things About All Of Us Are Dead
Su-hyeok And Nam-Ra Were Right For Each Other
While On-jo and Cheong-san were technically the lead couple in All of Us Are Dead, the relationship between Nam-ra and Su-hyeok was one of the highlights of the show. It’s not rare for the secondary couple in a K-drama to steal the show, and while the other characters were interesting too, the unique dynamic between a former bully and an antisocial student was very interesting. Su-hyeok had learned to stand up for those who needed it instead of hurting people, whereas Nam-ra was slowly opening herself to new friends. They made for a surprisingly great match.

The All of Us Are Dead characters would ironically refer to Nam-ra as “class president” because, despite the fact she was the actual class president, she had no friends there. Su-hyeok was Nam-ra’s first friend on the show, or at least the first person that truly tried to be friends with her. What was already an interesting dynamic became even more fascinating once Nam-ra was infected by Gwi-nam. Su-hyeok stood up for her and put his life at risk several times to prove that Nam-ra had not become a zombie yet.
Cheong-san may soon find himself in a very similar situation to Nam-ra – a hambie who cannot reunite with their friends and must protect themselves from the military.
Naturally, developing a relationship when one of the people involved is a half-zombie who craves human flesh can be difficult. Nam-ra almost attacked Su-hyeok twice, yet he was always by her side no matter what. Whereas On-jo and Cheong-san had a “will they, won’t they” arc, the story of Su-hyeok and Nam-ra was more straightforward and arguably more exciting. This is why it will be so bittersweet if they can’t be truly together in season 2.
Both Of All Of Us Are Dead’s Main Couples Are In A Bad Shape Ahead Season 2
On-jo And Cheong-san’s Story Is Already A Tragic One
Su-hyeok and Nam-ra are not the only All of Us Are Dead couple who may not get a happy ending just yet. On-jo and Cheong-san’s chances of being together are even lower, especially considering that one of them is presumably dead. At the end of All of Us Are Dead season 1, Cheong-san sacrifices himself to save On-jo and the rest of the group from Gwi-nam, who had been seeking revenge against Cheong-san for most of the show. This happened right after Cheong-san had confessed his love for On-jo, meaning their relationship ended before it could even start.
That said, it’s difficult to believe that Cheong-san is dead. Between his body not being shown and Yoon Chan-young promoting season 2 back when it was announced, I believe Cheong-san will return in some form. A popular theory is that Cheong-san will return as a hambie in All of Us Are Dead 2, which is the only reasonable way to explain how he could have survived both the fall and the bombing of the city. Cheong-san’s arm was scratched by Gwi-nam, who had previously infected Nam-ra and turned her into a hambie as well.

Why All Of Us Are Dead Season 2 Is Taking So Long
More than two years after All of Us Are Dead was renewed, the Netflix K-drama still doesn’t have a release date. But why is season 2 taking so long?
Cheong-san may soon find himself in a very similar situation to Nam-ra – a hambie who cannot reunite with their friends and must protect themselves from the military. Assuming Cheong-san is now a hambie, it remains to be seen whether he will have control over his powers, or if he will be as unstable and dangerous as Nam-ra was during most of the first season. Either way, it won’t be easy for On-jo and Cheong-san to be together.
Not All Hope Is Lost For Nam-Ra & Su-Hyeok In All Of Us Are Dead Season 2
Nam-ra And Su-hyeok May Get To Be Together After All
Despite all the challenges surrounding their relationship, there is still a chance for Nam-ra and Su-hyeok to be “endgame” in All of Us Are Dead. Firstly, the fact that Nam-ra now controls her powers makes things much easier and means that she will not be a threat to Su-hyeok and her other friends. Additionally, even though Nam-ra can’t join them in the military encampment, I’m sure On-jo and the others wouldn’t mind breaking out of quarantine to be with Nam-ra. In fact, they have already done it.
All of Us Are Dead season 1 ended with Nam-ra jumping out of the rooftop, which should be fine for her given how powers. We don’t know where her story is going, but I assume that the rest of the group will not be living in safety inside the military encampment for much longer. The main characters of All of Us Are Dead will have to be reunited eventually, and that is why there is still hope for Su-hyeok and Nam-ra to become a proper couple.
All of Us Are Dead is a horror-thriller series based on the webtoon from creator Jeon Bae-soo. Set in a South Korean high school, a scientist father trying to find a way to protect his son from bullies accidentally creates a serum that uses the fear within humans to turn them into zombies. Set loose in the school, the surviving students and staff find themselves cut off from the outside world and must now fight to survive the infected onslaught – and each other.
