Warning: Contains potential spoilers for Aliens Vs. Avengers #1!Marvel’s Alien crossover just got even more interesting, as the latest preview revealed that the alternate universe story will see the addition of Black Panther’s grown-up son. The epic series will feature the Avengers going to war with the fearsome Xenomorphs, and T’Challa and his son Azari will take center stage in the fight.
The preview for Aliens Vs. Avengers #1 – written by Jonathan Hickman, with art by Esad Ribić – teases the first taste of Alien horror paired with Marvel’s superheroes, as members of a Wakandan army breach an off-world location filled with Xenomorphs, before the Black Panthers, T’Challa and Azari, make their entrance.
Scoping out the area, the father-son duo only have a few moments before the terrifying alien creatures leap out at them, screeching and flashing their sharp teeth. Though he hadn’t been previously announced as part of the crossover, Azari could be a major figure in the four-issue miniseries.
Azari, Black Panther & Storm’s Son, Returns As An Adult In Marvel’s ALIENS VS. AVENGERS

Aliens Vs. Avengers
’ writer Hickman had previously tried to
introduce a son between Storm and T’Challa
in Earth-616; Hickman could be using the horror crossover to create a version of the Azari character that reflects the one he originally planned on bringing into the Marvel Universe.
Azari has been used as the name for T’Challa’s son in various alternate universes, and most commonly is also paired with the mutant goddess Storm as his mother. Azari T’Challa made his first appearance in the 2008 animated film Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow, with an identical version of the character entering Marvel Comics in Avengers (2010) #1. Though other versions of Azari have continued to pop up around the Marvel Multiverse, the Next Avengers iteration with powers inherited from both parents is perhaps the most established.
Aliens Vs. Avengers’ writer Hickman had previously tried to introduce a son between Storm and T’Challa in Earth-616; Hickman could be using the horror crossover to create a version of the Azari character that reflects the one he originally planned on bringing into the Marvel Universe. Azari’s relationship to Storm is still unconfirmed, since the preview only shows that T’Challa is his father. But, if he is also the child of one of Marvel’s most powerful mutants and inherited his mother’s electrokinesis, he would certainly be an even stronger addition to the fight against Xenomorphs.
Alien
The Alien franchise, which began with Ridley Scott’s 1979 film, is a Sci-Fi series comprised of several horror films, games, and comic books centered on humanity’s encounters with a hostile extraterrestrial species known as Xenomorphs. Characterized by their lethal prowess and capability to reproduce at an alarming rate, these creatures pose a profound threat to human existence. The primary series protagonist, Ellen Ripley, acts as the voice of reason as she seeks to keep the creatures out of the hands of greed-driven corporate scientists.
Black Panther Leads The Marvel Universe’s Charge In The Battle Against Xenomorphs
Azari, First Comics Appearance: Avengers (2010) #1 – Written By Brian Michael Bendis; Art By John Romita Jr., Klaus Janson, & Dean White
It wouldn’t be a proper entry into the
Alien
franchise without a few major casualties, and hopefully the father-son Black Panther duo can make it out alive.
Azari’s role in the battle against Xenomorphs is part of Marvel’s collision with legendary horror film characters and creatures. Outside of Black Panther and his son fighting the iconic creatures from Alien alongside the Avengers T’Challa is also taking on a few Yautja from the Predator franchise in yet another sci-fi horror crossover. The new Predator vs. Black Panther miniseries pits one of Marvel’s greatest warriors against the expert hunters as they search for vibranium. Though details on the Aliens Vs. Avengers story is still scarce, T’Challa and his son must lead the fight to keep the world safe.
With the new miniseries releasing on the tail of the franchise being re-energized with Alien: Romulus, its unique brand of sci-fi horror and terrifying Xenomorph creatures are back in a big way. Though the Avengers have superpowers to battle the alien beings, the Xenomorphs have also proven to be immensely powerful. It wouldn’t be a proper entry into the Alien franchise without a few major casualties, and hopefully the father-son Black Panther duo can make it out alive, since the story taking place in an alternate universe gives Marvel free rein to kill off a few Avengers.
Aliens Vs. Avengers
