Pixar Shows Off Its Space Adventure, Elio
Telling a tale of intergalactic adventure and friendship, the new footage for Elio shows the title character’s first introduction to space:
The footage begins with him being abducted by aliens. When he gets up to the spaceship, a small floating bot scans Elio. It says it’s a liquid supercomputer and gives Elio a drink, compliments of the communi-verse — a community that combines the greatest minds from the universe. Apparently that drink is something everyone is having. Elio is their new “candidate.”
Elio is taken through their community and is introduced to a few new characters. Then he unlocks another computer that knows all of the answers to the universe, like, “What is the meaning of life? What lies beyond a black hole?” But Elio just wants to know who would win between a gorilla and another animal, which the computer sighs and answers “a gorilla.”
Later, Elio meets Glordon, his friend we see in the trailer. Most of the footage is what we’ve already seen, but with more focus on the friendship between Elio and Glordon, as well as their adventure in space.
6:53PM – Though it doesn’t seem Marvel is releasing that Fantastic Four teaser online just yet, I bet it’ll debut sometime in the coming weeks before Thunderbolts*. I, for one, am eager to see more of what this movie has in store, since it sounds like this trailer has a lot of thrilling moments.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Reveals Brand New Footage
Looking ahead to Marvel’s other 2025 outing, Disney shared this tidbit from Fantastic Four:
The teaser begins with the host of The Ted Gilbert Show talking about the story of the Fantastic Four, with people saying, “Thank you, Fantastic Four.” We have a couple shots from the first teaser.
Then at a family dinner, Sue reveals she is pregnant. “Are you the protectors of this world? Your planet is now marked for death,” an alien woman says to the Fantastic Four. Then all of the electronics, or at least the lights, in the world go out. A man asks Mister Fantastic, “Are we safe?” He responds, “I don’t know.” We see him try and fail to solve some kind of problem.
After a couple of action shots, it wraps up with Mister Fantastic saying, “We will protect you.” The final shot is of the Silver Surfer, a female version it seemed like.
6:44PM – Kevin Feige sends in a video message, as he’s on the set of Avengers: Doomsday. While reiterating that the full cast for the 2026 movie hasn’t been revealed, he confirms the film will find the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the Thunderbolts, the Wakandans, and the original X-Men team going up against Doctor Doom. Talk about an epic team-up!

Marvel’s Thunderbolts* Disrupts CinemaCon
With just about a month to go before its release, Marvel’s Thunderbolts* brings viewers a bit deeper into what’s in store for this anti-hero crew:
It begins with a shot of a city. Red Guardian and Bucky are riding in the front seat of a truck, bonding over the fact that they were messed up by the Soviet Union. In the back, Yelena, Walker, and Ghost are discussing their bodysuits, helmets, etc. Yelena is making fun of Walker for his “hat.” Red Guardian is asking Bucky what the plan is. “The plan?” He asks. Then we see their truck drive right into a building. They all get out and start fighting about a dozen armed guards. Ghost uses her phasing powers that we saw in Ant-Man. Fontaine speaks on a loud speaker and says, “Guys, I left the door unlocked for you. Come up.” They didn’t know they weren’t supposed to fight everyone. Then we see them in the elevator (the shot that’s been in the marketing material). Fontaine insults Bucky. Apparently he only lasted half a term as congressman. “Junior Varsity Captain America,” Fontaine says of US Agent. Then she calls Red Guardian an “old Santa.” We get a very brief shot of Sentry, and everyone fighting. Later they are all captured together, then we see Yelena jump off a building (Florence Pugh said it was the second tallest building in the world). There’s a lot of action, including Bucky using his arm to block a car that is barreling towards them.
6:35PM – In a change of pace, it’s time for Marvel’s next big screen outing: Thunderbolts*! Several members of the ensemble cast are present, including David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Wyatt Russell, Florence Pugh, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. What mischief are they about to get up to?

The Roses Reveals Benedict Cumberbatch & Olivia Colman’s Dark Comedy
The Searchlight Pictures film, starring Cumberbatch and Colman as a couple whose marriage begins to implode, revealed its first trailer:
Cumberbatch and Colman hug and kiss each other while overlooking the ocean. We see them in a loving relationship, but then things start to unravel. It turns out Cumberbatch’s character has lost his job and he didn’t tell Colman. They start to bicker and Cumberbatch says, “Sometimes I do hate you.” Colman lobs some insults at him during a dinner party with their friends. Then they start to really mess with each other, like throwing food at the same dinner party, tossing things into the tub while the other one is bathing, and even one scene of Colman pointing a gun at Cumberbatch. At the end, their therapist says that they don’t have the capacity to actually fix their relationship.

First Ella McCay Trailer Arrives
Per Mansoor, the trailer plays out like this:
McCay (Mackey) meets Woody Harrelson and Jamie Lee Curtis in a bar. She says she doesn’t want to bring up old issues. Harrelson is her dad, and apparently he dated one of McCay’s friends. He wants to apologize and make amends with his children, because he’s now met the “most incredible woman.” Later, we see McCay at her wedding and her husband jokes that he has a bastardized son. At her job, something happens to the governor, and now she’s become the new governor of her home state. We see McCay, her family, and her friends go through life troubles, work troubles, and occasionally have hilarious moments together. There’s a lot of scenes with McCay and Curtis’ character. At the end of the trailer, McCay drinks something and offers it to someone else in the room, who tells her that it was laced with weed. She freaks out and the trailer ends.
6:23PM – Curtis is back, this time with Emma Mackey to promote their new film Ella McCay, a political dramedy with a star-studded cast that also includes Woody Harrelson, Ayo Edebiri, and Kumail Nanjiani. During this segment, director James L. Brooks is given CinemaCon’s Cinéma Vérité Award.

Deliver Me From Nowhere Reveals Bruce Springsteen Biopic
In the first trailer for the movie, White steps into the role of Springsteen, and a familiar song is heard:
Bruce is trying to purchase a car and the salesman says, “I know who you are.” He responds, “That makes one of us.” We then see Bruce do mic checks, singing, and trying to find his voice, who he is. Throughout the teaser we see snippets of his childhood, with a voice over talking about his tough past. That he’s a repairman who’s trying to repair a hole himself. “Once he’s done that, he’s going to repair the entire world.” There are a few black and white shots, and then a concert sequence with Bruce singing Born To Run.
6:20PM – Jeremy Allen White and Jeremy Strong are next, offering the first look at their Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere. There’s a lot of interest in seeing how White will tackle the music legend, curious to see how it shakes out!

Predator: Badlands Makes Its CinemaCon Debut
The first look at the new Predator movie appears to offer a very different kind of movie than Prey:
“I didn’t think you survived,” says Fanning’s character. We see a few dozen people hunting the Predator in one shot. The predator is hunting something that can’t be killed. We see it use a speeder type bike, a sword that looks like it heats up at the end. It’s more otherworldly than Prey was.
6:16PM – The sci-fi thrills continue, albeit in a very different way, with the first look at Predator: Badlands. Star Elle Fanning offers up a very intriguing tease about what lies ahead: “Something unprecedented happens in this movie…my character teams up with the predator.”

First Tron: Ares Footage Debuts
The brief teaser hints at both Leto and Bridges’ roles:
Teaser begins with an overhead shot of a city, with police in pursuit of two red light cycles on the freeway. They open the light and it cuts right through a police cruiser. “I’m looking for something, something I do not understand.” One of the ships from in the previous film is flying over the city (also all in red). A jet tries to take it down, but the light planes intercept and take them down. “Ready? Because there’s no going back,” says Flynn.
6:06PM – Next up is Tron: Ares, with Jared Leto and Jeff Bridges on hand to promote the sci-fi movie. Leto explains, “Ares is a highly advanced program who crosses over from the digital world to the real world on a mission.”

Freakier Friday Brings Laughs And Nostalgia
Lohan and Curtis presented a new look at Freakier Friday, which went down like this:
It begins with Curtis and Lohan talking about having her mother flirting with a guy who happens to be Chad Michael Murray. Lohan (as her mother) is wearing a giant red dress and tries to flirt with Murray, but does it very, very awkwardly. Curtis (as her daughter) tries to help Lohan by talking to her via AirPods.
Later in the same sequence, Murray approaches Curtis and asks a tough question: “Is your husband still with us?” Presumably he is into her instead. We see Curtis and Lohan in all kinds of normal situations, like playing tennis, driving, etc. The teaser is played to “Hot To Go” by Chappell Roan.
5:58PM – Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis have reunited on the CinemaCon stage to preview the highly anticipated Freakier Friday. It seems their bond hasn’t diminished in the slightest!
5:55PM – First up is this year’s live-action Lilo & Stitch remake! They show off a brand new clip from the movie, featuring Lilo and Stitch’s first turbulent steps toward friendship. Feels a bit reminiscent of the original movie, doesn’t it?
5:48PM – After a brief presentation from Cinema United, Disney kicks things off with a sizzle reel. We’re catching glimpses of Tron and Predator in there…
5:24PM – It’s almost time! Mansoor is seated for the Disney panel, and he reports they’ve given out 3D glasses — perhaps for Avatar: Fire & Ash?
4:30PM – One hour to go before Disney’s presentation! We’re expecting updates on movies like Elio, Avatar: Fire & Ash, and a little Marvel movie slated for this July…
2:28PM – With that, Paramount’s panel comes to an end! Highlights for me include The Running Man, Mission: Impossible, and that tiny, tiny Avatar tease. I can never say no to more Aang. Come back later for the final presentation of the year, Disney, which begins at 2:30PM PT/5:30PM ET!

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning Closes Out Paramount’s Panel
In the last bit of excitement, Paramount screened this Mission: Impossible footage:
Teaser opens with Hunt on the side of a small-engine plane. We see snippets from previous films – the CIA vault break-in, the Kremlin bombing, and the beginning from the last movie where he gassed the intelligence briefing. Hunt gets arrested by the military and is being used to presumably fight Gabriel.
“Your team has betrayed you. All of your secrets, compromised,” says Gabriel. “Everything you are. Everything you’ve done has come to this,” says Kittridge. Hunt and his team are given an aircraft carrier for his mission. Several of the stunts show him on the side of a plane, jumping into the ocean, underwater, etc. “I need you to trust me one last time.”
2:21PM – Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning director Christopher McQuarrie accepts the CinemaCon Director of the Year award. According to Mansoor, McQuarrie first met Cruise twenty years ago, and “he was planning to quit the movie business at that time. But it was partly because of that meeting that Cruise saw McQuarrie’s potential as a director and that changed the course of his career.” In the director’s own words: “So, Tom, it’s an honor to work with you and to place you in harm’s way for people’s entertainment.”
2:13PM – Proving he loves to support all kinds of movies, Cruise offers some praise for his Interview with the Vampire co-star Brad Pitt and his upcoming movie F1, adding, “He’s very good. He’s a very good driver. I’ve raced him…[on Interview With The Vampire] we’d literally finish and then go ride go karts.” Thinking of how Cruise openly supported movies such as Oppenheimer and Barbie in 2023, I’m wondering if we’ll see him at the movie theater in June checking F1, which was also directed by his Top Gun: Maverick filmmaker Joseph Kosinski.
2:03PM – Now it’s time for a big one: Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. Tom Cruise arrives to showcase the movie, but begins on a heartfelt note by paying tribute to the late Val Kilmer, his Top Gun co-star. Cruise says:
I’d like to take a moment before we move on. I’d like to honor my dear friend Val Kilmer. I really can’t tell you how much I admire his work, how much I thought of him as a human being, and how honored I was when he joined Top Gun and returned for Top Gun Maverick.

Channing Tatum Brings Roofman Footage To CinemaCon
The first footage for Roofman, which tells the incredible true story of a thief who robbed several McDonald’s by sneaking in via the roof and hit in a Toys “R” Us, played out:
The teaser begins by showing the outside of a McDonald’s, with Tatum’s Manchester entering through the roof and breaking into one of the locations. He tells the people working there to get into the freezer, but one of them says he’ll be cold.
We see Jeffrey Manchester at his daughter’s birthday party, feeling like a disappointment. The cops arrive and try to arrest him, but he runs away and is tackled. We next see him in prison for a bit.
We see him going into a Toys “R” Us and trying to hide from everyone. His friend tells him that he needs to lay low for several months. He spends his time roaming the halls, playing with toys, skateboarding through the store, all kinds of things. There’s still a lot of action: cars blowing up, robberies, cops chasing him, etc.
The trailer ends with the same people from the first McDonald’s being interviewed by the news, with that one guy who said he would be cold telling the news that Manchester gave him his jacket, that he was sweet.
1:54PM – Channing Tatum steps up to preview his upcoming movie Roofman, which he calls “an immensely entertaining ride and unbelievably hilarious.” He also says the project is “really special to me.”
1:51PM – Next up is Liam Neeson’s The Naked Gun reboot, which released its trailer online just as the panel got underway. The footage features the formidable action star thwarting a robbery… while dressed as a schoolgirl. Curious to see how it plays in front of a big crowd.

The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants Swims Into CinemaCon
It sounds like SpongeBob’s going on his biggest adventure yet, with the trailer teasing a trip to the underworld:
“Once upon a time, long, long ago,” says the captain played by Clancy Brown. “…The only way to lift the curse is to find the world’s most innocent soul,” which is apparently SpongeBob. He awakes up and measures his height. “Today’s the day,” he says, thinking his world is going to change because today he’s a big guy. SpongeBob meets up with Patrick and they celebrate SpongeBob being bigger, taller. Of course, not everyone is convinced he’s a big guy. He thinks he needs to go on a swashbuckling adventure like Mr. Krab to be a true big guy. That’s when they come face-to-face with the Flying Dutchman. “I’m here to offer you an opportunity to prove your worth in the underworld,” says the Flying Dutchman. SpongeBob and Patrick, with Squidward for a few brief moments, go on this journey that takes them space, land, and water.

This Summer’s Smurfs Gets A New Look
Mansoor tells us the Smurfs teaser went like this:
Papa Smurf is DJ’ing a concert with the other Smurfs. Smurfette is dancing. Everyone then looks up where a ship is hovering over their homes. Papa Smurf is abducted by the people in the ship. The other Smurfs, led by Smurfette, try to rescue Papa Smurf, landing them in our world, particularly Paris. They then meet Papa Smurfs brother. “It’s time to show you what a Smurf can do,” says Papa Smurf’s brother. “Never underestimate a Smurf,” says Smurfette. They then confront the evil wizards who took Papa Smurf, dancing with “old moves.” Then Papa Smurf’s brother says, “You don’t see that at CinemaCon.”
1:44PM – Continuing with the animated projects, this summer’s Smurfs gets a brand new teaser, and then Tom Kenney and Mark Hamill take the stage to discuss this year’s The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants. Hamill offers up a particularly eyebrow-raising tease for his role as the Flying Dutchman: “I actually did an episode of SpongeBob in the fifth season, and I did such a great job they asked me back 18 years later…And if I do my job correctly, every child in America will hate my guts.”
1:40PM – Just from that footage alone, The Running Man just jumped up my list of most anticipated movies. And yet before I can even process that, Paramount pivots to another intriguing project: The first theatrical animated Avatar: The Last Airbender movie, which has officially been titled The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender.

The First Footage Of Edgar Wright’s The Running Man
The first look at the latest Stephen King adaptation plays out like this:
Teaser begins with Glen Powell’s character Richards in an alleyway. Josh Brolin recruits him to join The Running Man game show to help save his family, who are struggling. Brolin believes Richards can win. Domingo’s host then provides a voice-over, “The thrill of the hunt sharpens your sensors.” We see Richards and other contestants train in the gym, being shocked by an electro-stick, etc.
“This is America goddamnit, and we don’t put up with no bullsh*t,” Domingo’s host shouts to the camera, with an audience behind him. We see several action shots after that.
“Stop filming me!” Richards yells into the camera after he manages to escape one of the people chasing him. One scene shows the pilot of a plane starting shooting in the cockpit, then it cuts to Richards running through an apartment building, sliding into an elevator. The person chasing him kicks a grenade into the elevator, but Richards manages to survive it.
“I’m still here, you sh*t eaters,” Richards says, again into a camera. We then see another contestant luring a swat-type team into a trap. He uses a water gun to shoot the ground and electrocute the team.
1:28PM – First 2025 movie to get the spotlight is Edgar Wright’s The Running Man, with Wright onstage alongside Glen Powell, Colman Domingo, and Josh Brolin. Speaking about the timeliness of the story, Wright says, “[In the story] the media and the world have gone out of control. It’s worth mentioning that Stephen King’s original book was set in 2025.”
1:26PM – Paramount CEO Brian Robbins teases some of the 2026 movies the studio has in the works, including the highly-anticipated Children of Blood and Bone adaptation. On that topic, Robbins says, “[This film] is a labor of love.” He also mentions Scream 7, which he sums up as “Sidney Prescott is back with old suspects and fresh new victims.”
1:18PM – Paramount’s president of domestic distribution, Chris Aronson, jokes that “on the heels of Sony releasing four Beatles movies, they’re gonna release four Paw Patrol films for each character.” Mansoor emphasizes, “Again, a joke,” lest people get a bit too excited about the idea of more Paw Patrol. I suspect my six-year-old cousin will be disappointed.
1:09PM – Things get off to an action-packed start as stuntpeople riding motorbikes take to the stage and aisles to hype up the audience, with the Mission: Impossible theme playing all the while. It’s certain we’ll be seeing more of that franchise during this presentation.
1:02PM, Rachel LaBonte – It’s showtime! The last day of CinemaCon is upon us and things are about to get underway with the Paramount panel. Our reporter Mansoor Mithaiwala is seated and ready to fill us in on all the exciting news.
ScreenRant is coming to you live from CinemaCon! This annual convention for the movie theater industry is a key event for Hollywood – it’s become the place for any studio releasing movies in cinemas to present their upcoming slate, and is often where posters, trailers, and footage for hotly anticipated titles are revealed for the first time.
This year’s edition, held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, from Monday, March 31 to Thursday, April 3, could be especially big. After the one-two punch of the pandemic and 2023’s Hollywood strikes sparked the “survive ’til 2025” mantra, theater owners need to see the film industry deliver some big hits. And the major studios will be eager to prove their 2025 slates have what it takes to revive a box office that has struggled so far this year.
Today is Day 4 of CinemaCon, the event’s last, and expect it to end with a bang. Paramount will be presenting its upcoming films from 10-11:30am local time (1-2:30pm ET), and it wouldn’t be the first time that theatrical experience advocate Tom Cruise showed up to get cinema owners excited about the next Mission: Impossible. Later, Disney will become the final studio to show off their wares, with that presentation scheduled from 2:30-4:30pm local time (5:30-7:30pm ET). Watch this space for the first reactions from that, as well as SR‘s other live coverage from the ground!
