Citadel: Diana – Release Date, Cast, Story, Trailer & Everything We Know

Amazon Prime Video’s ambitious Citadel franchise is expanding rapidly, and there are already a ton of exciting updates about the first spinoff, Citadel: Diana. Brought to the small screen by the Russo brothers, Citadel concerns two spies who must fight to recover their memories and their lives after their organization is infiltrated by a powerful enemy. Perhaps one of the boldest plans in TV history, Prime Video launched 2023’s Citadel with ambitious franchise goals in mind and wasted no time when revealing that a spinoff, Citadel: Diana, was already on the way.

Unfortunately for Prime Video and the entire team behind the show, Citadel seemed too big to fail but ultimately did. Ratings were down and reviews were equally middling, leaving the prohibitively expensive show twisting in the wind. Citadel season 2 was preemptively renewed before the first returns were even in for the debut season, but little has materialized in the time since. Similarly, Citadel: Diana has long been on the way, but Prime Video has been surprisingly quiet about their Italian expansion to the world of Citadel.

The Series Takes Place In 2030

Immediately following the ending of Citadel season 1, a teaser trailer for Citadel: Diana was revealed to further entice fans. Though the teaser features no dialogue and reveals next to nothing about the plot, it does introduce the lead character and shows her in more than a few action-packed situations. Doing its job well, the first teaser for Citadel: Diana did just that.

Along with the announcement of Citadel: Diana‘s October 2024 release date, Prime Video released a second teaser which sheds more light on the series. Establishing the show’s 2030 setting, the teaser introduces Diana, who is an undercover Citadel agent stuck behind enemy lines as a mole within the villainous Manticore organization. In the teaser, she hatches a plan to escape life forever, but she gets help from an unexpected source.

After a handful of teasers, Amazon Prime Video revealed a full-length trailer for Citadel: Diana in September, and it offers the clearest look at the Italian spinoff thus far. The trailer opens with Diana vowing to get revenge for her fallen comrades, and she is recruited to go undercover within a powerful crime syndicate. However, her own motivations send her on a quest to bring down all the power structures around her, and she is the ultimate loose canon with nothing but revenge on her mind.
