Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Creature Commandos episodes 1 & 2Creature Commandos features a two-episode premiere, one that ends with a surprise cliffhanger that’s quite brutal. The first official project in the newly rebooted DC Universe from DC Studios’ James Gunn and Peter Safran, the animated Creature Commandos show is a continuation of Argus and its Task Force program led by Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller (who’s using a loophole to circumvent recent mandates from Congress). To that end, Task Force M aka The Creature Commandos has been deployed, though the premiere’s ending may have just killed off two key members right off the bat.
Enlisting Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo) as its new field commander, Waller’s Task Force M is comprised solely of monsters and those she considers to not be human. To that end, the first two episodes introduce the new team while also putting them into conflict with the powerful witch Circe (Anya Chalotra). Keeping that in mind, here’s our breakdown of Creature Commandos episodes 1 & 2 and ending explained.

Circe’s Powers and Plan Explained
Why Does She Want To Take Over Pokolistan?
As revealed at the beginning of Creature Commandos episode 1, it’s confirmed that Circe believes herself to be the rightful ruler of the Amazonian island of Themyscira. To that end, she’s allied with the “Sons of Themyscira to take over the nation of Polkolistan, promising to bring them with her to Themyscira once the European nation is taken from the ruling monarchy and its imminent ruler, Princess Ilana Rostovic (Maria Bakalova). To that end, Circe has her men closely monitor Task Force M once they’re deployed to protect the Princess, as America has been in negotiations with Pokolistan for its untapped oil reserves.

Creature Commandos Cast & DC Character Guide
Creature Commandos will kick off James Gunn’s new DC Universe with an animated TV series including some of the weirdest DC Comics characters.
That said, it’s still unknown by the end of Creature Commandos episode 2 why Circe wants to overthrow Rostovic and take over Pokolistan. After all, one has to wonder why she doesn’t just try to take over the Amazons’ island with The Sons. Nevertheless, she certainly seems determined to claim this nation considering her brutal defeat of both The Bride (Indira Varma) and Nina Mizursky (Zoë Chao) by the second episode’s end at the remains of Victor Frankenstein’s manor.
Eric Frankenstein’s Relationship With The Bride Explained
It’s All Kinds of Toxic and Whack
By the end of Creature Commandos episode 2, The Bride’s current relationship with David Harbour’s Eric Frankenstein is revealed in full, and it’s very twisted. Demanding that his creator build him a wife to call his own in 1831, Victor Frankenstein (Peter Serafinowicz) reluctantly agrees. Filled with fear upon her successful reanimation, Victor is the only one with whom The Bride of Frankenstein feels comfortable, while Eric terrifies her.
Teaching her to talk and be human, Victor and The Bride disturbingly fall in love (to Eric’s dismay). This leads Frankenstein’s original monster to kill Victor, motivating a centuries-long toxic game of cat and mouse where Eric has relentlessly been stalking The Bride despite her continuous rejections. As such, it follows that Eric will try to make her fall in love with him once again after he learns her location at the end of Creature Commandos episode 1.
Are The Bride And Nina Mazursky Really Dead?
It Seems Doubtful (Though Anything’s Possible)
Following Circe’s brutal and bloody beatdown, things are not looking good for The Bride nor Nina by the end of Creature Commandos episode 2. Debuting magic for the first time in the new DCU, Circe was able to turn The Bride’s arms into inflatables while the Sons shot and broke Nina’s helmet open which allowed her to breathe. While the rest of Task Force M are on their way, they may be too late to save either of them seeing as how Creature Commandos episode 2 ends with the duo lying on the ground together with Nina unable to breathe and The Bride massively bleeding out.
“It should be assumed that Nina and The Bride will recover and be featured in the episodes of
Creature Commandos
that are still to come…”
As such, it wouldn’t be that much of a stretch to suggest that the duo will soon die, mirroring James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad where several members of Task Force X were shockingly killed within the first few minutes of the movie. However, Eric Frankenstein is still on his way to find his Bride. Likewise, considering the final shot of the episode was played for humor with Nina telling The Bride to “go f*** herself”, it should be assumed that Nina and The Bride will recover and be featured in the episodes of Creature Commandos that are still to come.
New episodes of Creature Commandos will release Thursdays on Max.
