Destiny 2: Quria, Blade Transform Rushdown Boss Guide

Destiny 2 is full of tough boss fights, and Rushdown brings them all together in a gauntlet of fights that will test your mettle as a Guardian. One of the tougher bosses to be found in Rushdown is Quria, Blade Transform from Season of the Splicer. This season took place from May to August of 2021, and so those newer Guardians or those who are returning for the wild ride that is Episode: Heresy will have a tough time against a there-and-gone boss from the game’s past.

Quria is a Vex Mind Hydra that was taken by Oryx once he gained the power to Take from the Deep. It was originally created by the Vex to be a weapon against the Hive, but ultimately failed and was Taken by Oryx in its defeat. Later, Quria was given to Savathûn as a gift, who eventually used it to learn how to Take as well. Now, Guardians face a reprised, but no less intimidating, version of this powerful foe in the Guardian Games Rushdown activity.

Best Loadouts For Quira In Destiny 2

Quria Is Stationary, But You Cannot Be

The Quria fight is one of the more complex Rushdown fights, and is tricky simply because there is no safe place to stand. Many boss fights in Destiny 2 allow you to stand still and shoot the boss until you either hit its DPS gate or defeat it, but Quria doesn’t function that way. Unless you’re a Wellock with a bunch of healing up your sleeve, your fireteam is going to have to stay on the move in order to doge Quria’s and the adds’ attacks and stay alive. If you’re a real gamer, swap between loadout slots after the initial damage phase is over for more survivability.

For this encounter, make sure to equip Void resist for Quria’s main cannon as well as Sniper resist for the long-range damage you’ll be taking.

Loadout wise, having a Warlock with Speaker’s Sight will be pretty invaluable for any fireteam that doesn’t know what they’re doing or isn’t super confident in their ability to stay alive. This person’s role will be simply to keep everyone alive as best they can while also clearing the nuisance adds that spawn periodically. Specifically, watch out for sniper Hobgoblins that can basically two-shot depending on which Rushdown encounter Quria is.

For the rest of the fireteam, your two main goals are going to be boss DPS and add clear, meaning you need something that will keep you alive while also letting you deal consistent damage. That means Heavy Machine Guns, Grenade Launchers, and non-precision focused damage are going to be best, as the DPS phase in this fight is just as dangerous as the in-between phases. Pick a Super that you can toss and forget about rather than one that requires consistent aiming or standing still.

If you prefer an even more passive early phase of the fight, grab Anarchy or Witherhoard to do tick damage. These two GLs can be tossed on to the boss to start applying damage, then refreshed as they run out. This will take longer, but ultimately it’s a fine way to bring Quria down to the requisite two-thirds of its health to begin the next phase.

How To Beat Quria In Rushdown

Follow Each Phase Properly To Defeat This Annoying Boss

When the Quria fight begins, you should notice a few things off the bat. Firstly, there are two rotating shields that circle Quria in the center of the arena. Secondly, there are diamond-shaped breakables floating around as well. Shooting these diamonds will cause walls and pieces of cover to appear, so use them to traverse the arena and avoid taking damage. For the first phase, plink away at Quria until it becomes fully immune, about one third of its health.

Throughout the fight, detainment bots will spawn in and fly at you and your fireteam. Make sure you shoot them before they can detain you, as being stuck in one place can mean your death in such a dangerous fight.

At this point, two more bosses will spawn, a Taken Minotaur and a Vex Minotaur, on the outside of the arena. Both of these bosses are shielded, and you’ll need to take them both down before you can damage Quria again. In order to do this, look out for one of the diamond-shaped breakables that glows a purple/pink color nearby to the boss’ platform. Breaking this diamond will spawn an authentication key, which you need to then dunk at the indicated place before the timer on the key reaches zero.

In my experience, it’s best to let the warlock take the key, as they can avoid taking the platform path to the dunk spot by using their long jump. Warlocks have by far the most airtime in their jumps than other classes, and as long as the fireteam is taking aggro from the boss and clearing the adds that spawn nearby, there should be no issue for the Warlock to reach the dunk spot in time.

Each new Act of Destiny 2 brings new weapons, some of which are worth working for and some of which are just not up to standard.

Once the authentication key has been dunked, the Minotaur’s shield will drop, allowing you to DPS it. You can use your super here as long as you have a good enough DPS weapon once it’s time to take Quria down. Repeat this with the other Minotaur on the other side of the arena to fully remove Quria’s shield and begin another DPS phase.

If you’re on Warlock and your team doesn’t need the healing that Well provides, try a Chaos Reach/Geomag Stabilizers build. Arc is broken this season, and running Geomag/Delicate Tomb will let you have Chaos Reach back within eight to ten add kills.

During this DPS phase, Quria will send out more adds as well as a bunch of Disintegration Protocols, which are walls of Vex power that deal one third of your health in damage. They can be devastating if your whole fireteam gets caught at the wrong time, so make sure you’re on the move or out of the way of the walls as you DPS. Instead of hopping up to the higher platforms that put you at ground-level with Quria, try sticking to one of the lower ones that still has line of sight of the boss.

Thankfully, you should be able to eventually take down Quria once you get its shields down. Stay on the move and stay alive over everything else, and this tricky boss fight will be complete. Destiny 2 has a huge variety of boss fights, and the mechanics of Quria’s can be tricky to master; remember to stay on your toes and play your life, and you’ll find your Rushdown complete in no time.
