The Young Sheldon spinoff is a long way from justifying how Georgie becomes who he is in The Big Bang Theory, but Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage episode 4 might have hinted at how he gets rich via one subtle detail. Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage firmly focused on Georgie and Mandy finally acclimatizing to their life with the McAllisters after multiple spats with Audrey. Not shining too much of a light on Georgie and Mandy’s careers, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage instead favored their family life or trying to build a social life, which was episode 4’s main focus.

Young Sheldon easily established the Coopers as not coming from money, with only Georgie and Meemaw making more when they set up the laundromat and video store to bring more customers to their secret gambling room. Between the tornado in season 6 destroying Meemaw’s house and Meemaw being arrested in Young Sheldon season 7, it nevertheless became clear that Georgie and Meemaw couldn’t go back to their lucrative and illegal enterprise. This raises a major question about how Georgie becomes rich enough to open the various Dr. Tire stores, to which Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage offered a potential answer.

Georgie and Mandy being Audrey and Jim’s bridge partners kickstarted the core story in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage episode 4, which revolved around Mandy’s dissatisfaction with not having a social life. However, the opening scene inevitably showed how good Georgie was with cards. This was not only proved by his winning, consistent enough to vex Audrey, but also his swiftness with the cards, showing Georgie as fully at ease with handling them that he was also up to banter with Audrey and Jim, showing him confidently in his element in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 1, episode 4.

It Would Make Sense After His Past With Meemaw

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage introduced the McAllisters’ shop as a new setting, both to showcase Georgie’s business acumen and his personal relationship with Jim. Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage repeatedly demonstrated Georgie’s impressive proposals for the shop, whether those included new kind of tires to sell or the tow truck service, embedding Georgie even more within the McAllisters’ business and sadly tying Mandy and Georgie’s eventual breakup to Jim too. Even if Georgie were to continue make the shop successful before their divorce, though, it wouldn’t explain how he earned enough to set up Dr. Tire.

Georgie’s talent with cards can easily be the reason why he could set up such a successful business with the Dr. Tire stores in The Big Bang Theory. Earning money through gambling would go against the reasoning behind Georgie and Meemaw’s gambling room enterprise that house always wins. However, it would also make sense based on Meemaw’s past, Georgie’s abilities, and most importantly, the relatively little time between the Young Sheldon spinoff and Georgie’s massive success in Big Bang Theory, making the small detail in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage episode 4 pay off in the end.
