Flash’s Horrifying New Power Feat Proves Flashpoint Was Just the Beginning

Warning: Spoilers for The Flash #11

Summary

  • Wally West is manipulated by the Arc Angles to wield a destructive weapon that could end time itself.
  • The Flash’s actions could lead to a second Flashpoint disaster with catastrophic consequences for the DC Universe.
  • The fate of the multiverse hangs in the balance as Wally West’s newfound power threatens all of existence.

The Flash has just gained access to unimaginable cosmic power, and it’s made him a danger to the DC Universe. Much like with Barry Allen’s infamous Flashpoint, time itself hangs in the balance because of the Fastest Man Alive.

In The Flash #11 by Si Spurrier and Ramón Pérez, Wally West has been manipulated into becoming a hollowed-out vessel for a higher power known as the Arc Angles. They have isolated Wally from his loved ones in the Flash Family and erased his memories so he can wield an otherworldly weapon unlike any other. Trapped under their control, the Flash is forced to race to the edge of creation and kill time at its source.

This is not the first time a speedster has messed with the timeline, and the consequences may be just as catastrophic. It’s possible the DC Universe is facing a second Flashpoint disaster.

Flash Just Flipped the Entire Hierarchy of DC’s Gods (It’s Not a Pyramid)

In a preview for The Flash #11, Wally West makes a shocking discovery about the nature of the DC Universe, one that upends the hierarchy of gods.

The Flash Becomes a Weapon to End Time Itself

Is This a Second Flashpoint?

The Arc Angles’ plan is to use the Flash as a vessel to fire a weapon called the Crown of Thawnes at the Deep Change, which is the source of all time. In doing so, time will be destroyed, which the Arc Angles believe will end all suffering. Wally gets possessed by the Crown of Thawnes, and the ghostly faces of Reverse-Flashes taunt him as he runs along the fabric of reality. This terrifying race against time with the Arc Angles’ weapon in tow pushes the Scarlet Speedster harder than ever before. Ultimately, the Flash deploys the Crown of Thawnes, endangering the entire multiverse.

Wally West isn’t the first Flash to alter time via the Speed Force. Barry Allen’s Flash famously erased the post-Crisis version of the DC Universe in an event called Flashpoint. In Flashpoint by Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert, Barry uses the Cosmic Treadmill to travel back in time and prevent his mother’s death. This alteration leads to massive changes in the timeline that ultimately erased the original DC Universe, rebooting it for the controversial New 52 era. The DCU has since found its footing again, but that could change as a result of Wally West’s horrifying new power.

Flash Crashes Through Atomic Mirror DC

Wally West’s Flash is following in his predecessor’s footsteps by doing the Arc Angles’ bidding and killing time itself. His newfound power from the Crown of Thawnes threatens all of existence, and the DCU may never be the same. The fate of the multiverse, and of Wally West, remains unknown as of now. Only time will tell — if any time remains at all — whether the Flash will be able to restore everything this time around, or if history is doomed to repeat itself for the Fastest Man Alive.

The Flash #11 is available now from DC Comics.
