It’s been over two decades since the original, but Freakier Friday is on the way with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan reprising their roles as the body-swapping mother-daughter duo Tess and Anna Coleman. 2003’s Freaky Friday is widely regarded as one of the best body-swap comedies of all time, thanks in no small part to astounding performances from both Lohan and Curtis. The upcoming Freaky Friday sequel will bring Tess and Anna back to screens as they find themselves once more trading places.
Though the larger Freaky Friday universe stretches all the way back to the 1970s, the Aughts classic revived it with an exciting shot of modernity. Both Lohan and Curtis gave some of the best comedic performances of their careers, and the film managed to hold on to the charm that lies at the heart of Mary Rodgers’ original novel. Now, Freakier Friday has the chance to bring the nearly 50-year-old film franchise to another generation with all the charm and heart that only Disney can deliver.

Freakier Friday Story Details
Another Body-Swapping Adventure
Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis will reprise their roles as Anna and Tess Coleman, and the mother-daughter pair will once again be swapping bodies. However, Freakier Friday is upping the ante as Anna will also be a mother herself, and is expecting to become a stepmother soon as well. This opens the door for a four-way body swap that will cross three different generations and will lead to loads of humorous mayhem.
As is often the case with sequels, Freakier Friday clearly understands that more is more when it comes to raising the stakes. However, the legacy sequel is also returning to some of the more familiar elements from the original film, including Anna’s band, Pink Slip, which will also factor into the story somehow. As is often the case with Disney movies, the legacy sequel is cranking the nostalgia to 11.
