- Based on the schedule between updates, it is possible to predict when Natlan will be released in Genshin Impact.
The exact release date for Natlan in Genshin Impact is unknown, but it is possible to predict a time frame in which the new area will be added to the game. Natlan is the sixth Nation of Teyvat to arrive and its reigning element is Pyro. Natlan has been mentioned a few times before and is expected to be introduced in 2024, as was previously announced by HoYoverse in its post-release calendar. Nevertheless, it does not yet have an established release date. The focus, for now, is still on the content added to the game after the release of Fontaine.
This article contains SPOILERS about Genshin Impact.
In 2023, HoYoverse added Fontaine to Genshin Impact, substantially increasing the size of the map, and allowing players to attune the Traveler to Hydro, meet a full roster of new characters, and experience a regional storyline through Archon Quests, which connects to the larger narrative arc. Some details were already known about Natlan, but with the events that took place in Version 4.2, more information about the Nation of Pyro was revealed, as the Traveler prepares to set off to the next destination on their journey searching for their lost sibling – even if that may still take a while.
Neuvillette Revealed More Details About Natlan In Genshin Impact
The Character Revealed Details After An Important Story Event
The information about Natlan was revealed by the Hydro Dragon Sovereign, Neuvillette, after the fight against the All-Devouring Narwhal and the conversation with Skirk in Genshin Impact. The location came up in a conversation as the Traveler got ready to depart from Fontaine and head over to the next region to continue their search for their sibling. While Neuvillette did brush over a few details that were already known, he offered more insight into what players can expect once they arrive in Natlan. However, it may be a few weeks before players gain access to the region of Pyro.
When Natlan Is Being Added To Genshin Impact (Pyro Region’s Release Date Predictions)
The Nation Of Pyro Should Arrive In August 2024
Although Natlan does not have a definitive release date so far, as the content itself is likely still under development, it is possible to predict when HoYoverse plans on releasing it. Natlan’s release is likely connected to Genshin Impact 5.0, but that does not necessarily mean that the game will go all the way through Version 4.9 before heading into the big annual update. In fact, leading up to Fontaine’s release in Version 4.0, the title effectively skipped Version 3.9, which means that similar behavior can occur during the current year of content.
The year before, HoYoverse also skipped Version 2.9 before entering Version 3.0 and the release of Sumeru.
There is a regular six-week schedule between Genshin Impact updates and, based on this, it is possible to predict that the release date of Natlan via Version 5.0 will occur on August 28, 2024. Of course, this is if Version 4.9 is taken out of the rotation, as the most recent x.9 patches have not occurred. This also takes into consideration that the game’s updates will not suffer any delays – there have been no content delays since Version 2.7, and ever since then, the game has been steadily and promptly receiving new patches of content every six weeks.
The August 2024 release date prediction for Natlan is also in line with most of the big annual updates for Genshin Impact. They always occur in the Summer: Fontaine’s release in Version 4.0 occurred on August 14, while Sumeru’s addition via Version 3.0 happened on August 24, 2022. While the August 28, 2024 release date for Natlan is impossible to concretely determine right now, it seems like the most accurate prediction based on prior releases and the game’s schedule.
The list below highlights the release date of each Nation of Teyvat so far, for comparison with the predicted release of Natlan and a clearer understanding of HoYoverse’s calendar so far:
- Mondstadt and Liyue: September 28, 2020 (Version 1.0)
- Inazuma: July 21, 2021 (Version 2.0)
- Sumeru: August 24, 2022 (Version 3.0)
- Fontaine: August 16, 2023 (Version 4.0)
Inazuma’s release with Version 2.0 is the only exception, having arrived on July 21, 2021 – but that was before Version 2.7 and its delay, which pushed back all subsequent updates.
The idea that Natlan will officially arrive on August 28, 2024, is sustained by a recent announcement made by the developer. In an official post made on the official Genshin Impact profile on X (formerly Twitter), the Version 5.0 livestream will occur on August 16. This will be two weeks before August 28. While the game’s livestreams usually take place on Fridays, two weeks before the actual patch, the new livestream may be a way of exemplifying Version 5.0’s importance among other regular updates. Additionally, August 28 marks the end of the six-week period for Version 4.8.
Each patch usually lasts a total of six weeks before the introduction of the next update, unless there are any delays to the regular schedule.
Story Details About Natlan In Genshin Impact
Players Will Be Able To Use Mounts
In Teyvat, Natlan is the Nation that is ruled by the element of Pyro in Genshin Impact. As had already been determined and then further reinforced by Neuvillette’s conversation at the end of the Archon Quests in Version 4.2, Natlan is also a Nation of war and one that is continuously plagued by the conflicts that take place there. According to Neuvillette’s intelligence, the Fatui Harbinger known as The Captain is invested in the clashes in Natlan and has “thrown his hat into the nation’s endless ring of war.” Exactly what this entails is still unknown.
However, considering the Snezhnayan group’s modus operandi so far and its continuous efforts to infiltrate Nations, it is possible to speculate a little bit about what is going on. It is likely that, once again, the Fatui Harbingers in Genshin Impact will instigate internal conflicts and further expand the faction’s imperialistic grasp on foreign nations. This is also likely a ploy to acquire the Gnosis from the Pyro Archon, as demanded by the Tsaritsa.
Aside from the presence of the Fatui and their possible endorsement of a proxy war, there were other details revealed about Natlan when talking to Neuvillette at the end of Version 4.2’s main Archon Quests – also known as the “Finale” mission in Chapter IV: Act 5. According to Neuvillette, Natlan is a region of dragons. However, these creatures are not the elemental dragons, like Neuvillette or Apep in Genshin Impact, but lesser life species. These creatures have now been confirmed by HoYoverse, and are called Saurians. These Saurians seem to display elemental affinity, but it is unknown to what extent.
The Saurians are known to be able to traverse land, water, and even lava, and players will be able to use them as mounts during exploration.
It is expected that they will be more like vishaps, which are encountered in Liyue, for instance. The dragons in Natlan have evolved and learned to coexist with humanity, which may even mean they integrate parts of the tribes that compose the social structure of the area. Natlan is said to be located west of Sumeru, beyond the Great Red Sand. The game also mentions that Natlan has several hot springs that were created from the severe volcanic activity in the region.
During the short teaser trailer presenting these new characters, it is implied that there will be a grand tournament taking place in Natlan, perhaps dictating the future of the entire Nation. Of course, this is expected to coincide with the arrival of the Traveler. Leaks mention that there is something hidden within Natlan’s central volcano, which may be just what Mavuika is seen talking to in a dark chamber in the
Natlan Characters In Genshin Impact
Several Playable Units Were Showcased
It is known that Natlan has had at least two Pyro Archons, one of which is called Murata. She is also known as the Lady of Fire, though her status is a mystery – in fact, it has been over 1,000 years since Murata’s status was a secret. The most recent Pyro Archon leaks in Genshin Impact give further details about the character’s alleged design. The character’s rumored outfit is speculated to be inspired by Brazilian Carnival dancers.
This character is said to have white skin, gradient-orange hair, and red eyes, in addition to wearing a Carnival-like mask and a red suit with a bowtie. At the moment it is uncertain if this leaked character design is referent to Murata or the other unknown Pyro entity briefly mentioned in the lore – it is, most likely, the design of the current ruler of the throne of the Pyro Archon and, given how they were described, it is possible that the Traveler and Paimon will meet up with them in the story.
This leaked design seems to match up, partially, with the design seen on the official reveal of Mavuika, one of the many confirmed Natlan characters in Genshin Impact. She is portrayed as if she is the leader of the Nation of Pyro, though there is still debate as to whether or not she is the Pyro Archon herself. In addition to Mavuika, HoYoverse has showcased a large portion of the upcoming playable roster, to be released starting in Version 5.0 and progressing through the game’s next year of content.
The first three characters that were officially shown were Kinich, Mualani, and Kachina. Kinich and Mualani are rumored to be 5-star Dendro and Hydro units, respectively, while leaks say Kachina is a 4-star Geo character. These three are also the first three Natlan characters to be added with Version 5.0, as exemplified in the official livestream announcement and a series of teasers that were made on the official account on X. Their kits and other new gameplay details about Natlan should be confirmed during the livestream, but there are leaks mentioning new Night Spirit mechanics.

The Night Spirit mechanic has been mentioned multiple times in Genshin Impact Natlan leaks. Here’s how it works and why you don’t need to worry.
In addition to these three, HoYoverse has also announced Citlali, Xilonen, Iansan, Chasca, Mavuika, Capitano, and Ororon. These seven other characters, if they all become playable, should be added in patches after Version 5.0. There is a chance that Capitano may not become playable, considering he is an antagonist, and HoYoverse has only made anti-heroes playable in Genshin Impact – Childe, Wanderer, and Arlecchino have evil connections, but are not necessarily evil, per si.
Other than the smaller pieces of trivia spread across Teyvat and the recent revelations by Neuvillette, little else is known about Natlan so far. If previous years are any indication, leaks about this new region of Teyvat should start to intensify over the next few months as HoYoverse starts to gear up for the release of Natlan. More official information about the land of Pyro should also be shared as the game progresses, and it grows closer to Genshin Impact 5.0.
