As the last remaining resistance fighters fight tooth and nail on the bloody island of Gamorra, Batman and Superman find themselves at bitter odds! Meanwhile, Amanda Waller has come too far to give up now, and is calling in reinforcements from across the Multiverse! The future of the DC Universe is up for grabs, and after this, things will never be the same!

This variant by Yasmine Putri shows Hal Jordan on his knees as the Amazo known as Jadestone grips his face, draining the Emerald Knight of his powers. The scene is brutally gorgeous, making it one of the standout pieces of Absolute Power art so far.

Absolute Power 4 Putri Variant Cover: an Amazo grabs Green Lantern Hal Jordan by the head.

Jadestone is one of six power-absorbing Amazo robots enlisted in Amanda Waller’s newly established Task Force VII. These Amazos are modeled after the core seven Justice League members, with Batman’s form being replicated by Failsafe. Waller acquired these robots through an alliance with the Zur-En-Arrh-possessed Failsafe, who had gathered a collection of Amazos from an unknown source. In addition to the power-stealing machines, Failsafe also collected various Zur-En-Arrh Batmen from across the multiverse, integrating these different personalities into the Amazos. As a result, each member of Task Force VII, including Jadestone, is piloted by a version of Batman.

While it’s unclear which Batman currently inhabits Jadestone, fans know from Putri’s art that this Amazo is not one to be trifled with. So far, various Absolute Power-related issues have shown hero vs. Amazo interactions without any heroes being killed. However, Putri’s depiction suggests that Jadestone might be on the brink of crossing that line with Hal Jordan. Jadestone doesn’t just appear to be stealing Hal’s powers; he also seems to be crushing the Green Lantern’s head in his hand, leaving the fate of the most iconic Emerald Knight of the DC universe uncertain.

JADESTONE May Be the First Amazo to Turn Against Amanda Waller

Cover F Dan Mora Foil Variant for Absolute Power: Task Force VII #3

Absolute Power Task Force VII 3 Mora Variant Cover: the Amazo Jadeston design sheet.

Each member of Task Force VII has gained their abilities by siphoning powers from various heroes. As revealed in the synopsis for Jeremy Adams and Marco Santucci’s Absolute Power: Task Force VII #3, Jadestone acquired his powers from the Justice Society of America and now possesses Green Lantern Alan Scott’s willpower. According to the synopsis, Scott’s willpower has introduced Jadestone to the concept of free will, hinting that the Amazo might reconsider its loyalty to Waller. It will be intriguing to see whether this Green Lantern-inspired Amazo will potentially become an ally to DC’s heroes or follow the dark path depicted in Putri’s art.

Absolute Power #4 will be released on October 2, 2024, from DC Comics!
