How Helluva Boss Season 2, Episode 11’s Ending Sets Up A Season-Long Prophecy To Be Fulfilled

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Helluva Boss season 2, episode 11, “Mastermind.”Season 2 of Helluva Boss has released relatively few episodes over more than two years, but the season finale or the events of season 3 could call back to a soft prophecy uttered in the season premiere. Loosely connected to the renewed Hazbin Hotel, with both shows being created by animator Vivienne “VivziePop” Medrano, Helluva Boss follows a company of Imp assassins in Hell. Blitzø (Brandon Rogers) is the founder and CEO of I.M.P. (Immediate Murder Professionals), and with the imps being the working class of Hell, the series delves into themes of unjust class structures.

I.M.P. was previously dependent on the help of demon prince Stolas (Bryce Pinkham), who has a complicated relationship with Blitzø. However, as of season 2, episode 11, “Mastermind,” Stolas is no longer one of the most powerful and richest demons in Hell, having taken the fall for Blitzø’s illegal activities to save his former lover’s life; Stolas is consequently stripped of his powers and holdings. However, this sets up potential new storylines for the best Helluva Boss characters that allude to the season premiere, making for a compelling watch to take up time while waiting for Hazbin Hotel season 2.

Blitz Says Stolas Could Come Work For Him In The Helluva Boss Season 2 Premiere

The Day They Meet, Blitz Tells Stolas About His Business Plans & Says He Should Apply

The Helluva Boss season 2 premiere reveals that Blitzø and Stolas met as children after the former’s father paid for Blitzø to be the young prince’s friend. Still, the two enjoy spending time together. At the time, Blitzø is a clown in his family’s circus, but already has aspirations of running a successful business, even though he doesn’t seem to know what it will be yet. He describes starting his own circus, being the “most famous Imp ever,” owning a large office building, and filling it up with horses and clowns, to Stolas’ confusion and amusement.

Blitzø also declares that when his business is up and running, he will hire Stolas (if he “feels like it“). Stolas is happily taken aback by this idea; this episode illustrates how he comes from extreme privilege and is repeatedly told that he is superior to demons like Blitzø. Yet with this life comes uncaring family members and an arranged marriage to a cruel, self-centered woman. Stolas clearly already likes Blitzø, and the idea of doing a regular job for a wacky boss is appealing to him, so he responds that he “hopes he qualifies.”

Stolas Now Has Nothing & Could Work For IMP

Stolas Is Going To Need A Plan & Probably A Job In Helluva Boss Season 3

Much of Helluva Boss contributes to season 2, episode 1’s — titled “The Circus” — atmosphere of being a long-forgotten childhood dream. While Stolas is nicer than many of the other royal demons who appear in this series, he still lives in a luxurious mansion with a position and power that seem absolute. Then he loses absolutely everything to his scheming in-laws and ends the episode sleeping on Blitzø’s couch. Blitzø isn’t about to send Stolas packing when he has just lost his home and custody of his daughter saving Blitzø’s life, but Stolas still needs to figure out a plan.

When the series revolves around I.M.P. and Blitzø’s character as the boss, Stolas becoming an employee would be a natural way for him to fit into the story’s core themes going forward.

Which potentially means getting a job, so he isn’t dependent on Blitzø’s goodwill or the next century (the length of his punishment). As Stolas is underqualified and Blitzø is in his debt, the long-off promise to employ Stolas is neatly set up to come back around. When the series revolves around I.M.P. and Blitzø’s character as the boss, Stolas becoming an employee would be a natural way for him to fit into the story’s core themes going forward. This would also facilitate multiple character arcs, as it would entirely flip the previous power balance between Blitzø and Stolas.

What Job Stolas Could Do At IMP

Stolas Would Excel At Doing All Of Blitzø’s Paperwork (Which He Never Does Himself)

Some of Blitzø and Stolas’ other comments as children seem to have an element of prophecy. Stolas said that Blitzø would be “a good boss,” which Blitzø took as sarcasm. However, Stolas does need help and Blitzø just giving him a job would be huge. Also relevant is young Stolas’ hope that he would be qualified for his job, and it’s unlikely that he is proficient in any kind of combat that doesn’t involve magic — so he wouldn’t be a very good assassin. Blitzø’s adoptive daughter Loona (Erica Lindbeck) is currently I.M.P.’s receptionist but isn’t very good at her job.

Stolas could be a co-receptionist, which could cause some entertaining conflict because of how it might insult Loona. It’s also established that Stolas has an aptitude (and a strange passion) for paperwork and negotiations when he helps Ozzie (James Monroe Iglehart) negotiate the legal proceedings of a ransom demand earlier in the season. Thus, Stolas could be I.M.P.’s legal rep, would probably be very good at it, and might actually enjoy it. Recent events are pushing Stolas’ character into entirely new territory, which has the potential to again show how out of the general chaos of Helluva Boss come interesting beats about personal happiness.
