How I Met Your Mother Gets Brutally Honest Retitle In Remake Poster Art

How I Met Your Mother gets a brutally honest new fan-made poster for a potential remake. Created by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, the hit sitcom premiered on CBS in 2005, chronicling the romantic exploits of Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) as he recounts to his children the story of how he met their mother. How I Met Your Mother ended in 2015 with season 9, with the show’s final moments seeing Ted, revealed to be a widower, learning that he still has feelings for Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders).

A fan-made poster shared by @howimetyourmotheer now pokes fun at Ted’s enduring love of Robin. The poster features the main cast, which includes Radnor, Smulders, Jason Segal, Neil Patrick Harris, and Alyson Hannigan, assembled around a sofa, but changes the show’s title from How I Met Your Mother to How I Still Want To Bone Your Aunt Robin. What The How I Met Mother Poster Means For A Potential Remake

The CBS Sitcom’s Ending Was Divisive For Audiences

How I Met Your Mother remains a beloved sitcom even 10 years after its divisive finale, and a spinoff show called How I Met Your Father continued the series’ universe for two seasons before its cancellation in September 2023. There have been no official announcements regarding a revival or continuation of the show since, but it’s entirely possible that Bays and Thomas’ creation will return in some form in the future. It’s possible, for example, that the show will be remade for a new audience.

If a remake or reboot ever does move forward, it will have to contend with the divisiveness of the How I Met Your Mother ending. The final episode was controversial because, after spending nine seasons building up to Ted’s romance with the eponymous mother, Tracy, played by Cristin Milioti, the character is revealed to have passed away. Though Ted and Robin’s romance played a large role in the series, some viewers evidently felt like that ship had sailed by the time season 9 aired. A remake would have the difficult decision of how to approach this divisive story point.

Our Take On A Potential How I Met Your Mother Remake

How Likely Is One After How I Met Your Father?

With How I Met Your Father evidently not drawing enough viewership to justify continuing beyond season 2, it’s not clear if another attempt will be made to recapture the magic of How I Met Your Mother anytime soon. It doesn’t seem as if it’s been quite long enough yet to remake the show, especially since those who watched the original run would probably be more interested in seeing some kind of continuation or revival with the original cast instead. If a remake does happen, however, it’s entirely possible viewers would see Ted’s ending play out a little differently.
