How To Find More Gene Seed In Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2

Quick Links

Anyone who gets more Gene Seed items during an Operations mission in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 can earn more XP for themselves and the rest of their squad. Carrying a Gene Seed to the end of a PvE mission gives you 30% more experience than you would normally receive. However, it can be hard to find these rare items in the chaos of combat against enemy hordes.

Every mission of Space Marine 2 has several locations where Gene Seeds could spawn. Typically, only one Gene Seed appears during an Operations mission, meaning that only one person can pick up this valuable item within a squad. Thankfully, the XP bonus is applied to all players in multiplayer if one person manages to take a Gene Seed to the end of a mission.

Depending on the type of Operations PvE mission you select, the Gene Seed could show up in a variety of different spots. For example, you might find one Gene Seed near the Landing Zone during a Vox Liberatis Operation. Thankfully, the difficulty of the mission doesn’t affect where Gene Seeds appear, so you can always search the same areas when you repeat specific Operations.

Other Operations like the Fall of Atreus and Ballistic Engine missions are likely to have Gene Seeds, but their general locations are unknown as of this time of writing.

Remember, only one Gene Seed will appear in a possible location determined by your chosen Operations mission. Sometimes, a Seed could be in multiple spots within the same area of an Operation, so explore carefully to find one. This item could be far away from your main objective, so you’ll always want to check off the beaten path to prevent your team from missing it.

Once you find a Gene Seed, it takes up the same slot in your inventory as a Relic. No matter what class you’re using in Space Marine 2, you cannot hold a Gene Seed along with a Relic, meaning that whoever holds a Seed should be someone who doesn’t die easily. Without Relics for self-preservation, like the Guardian Relic for a once-per-Operation revive, you need someone who can protect the Seed efficiently.

Try Not To Fall Throughout A Mission

For a Gene Seed’s 30% extra XP bonus to work, you have to take it to the end of an Operation without losing it. If you are downed or get killed, you lose the Gene Seed from your inventory immediately. As a result, you need to protect whoever on your squad has the one Gene Seed that spawns since you only get one chance to collect and preserve it to the end of a mission.

Some defensive classes in Space Marine 2, like the Bulwark, are excellent for carrying the Gene Seed, as they have more self-protective abilities. Bulwarks have a personal shield instead of a primary weapon and usually act as a tank for your squad. However, this class is not 100% necessary when you’re hunting for a Gene Seed, as other archetypes could also carry one to the finish line.

Getting the Gene Seed XP boost can help you level up your favorite class or weapon fast without having to grind too many missions. More experience can help you unlock various custom armor as well, from new colors to the Requisition Points needed to gain new Chapter sets.

While you won’t be able to find more than one Gene Seed during a mission in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, the one you do get will lead to much more content.
