I Won’t Watch 1000-lb Sisters If Amy Slaton And Tammy Slaton Are Forced To Share Center Stage (I Watch The Show For Them, Not For Chris Combs & Amanda Halterman)

Though I’m a big fan of all the Slaton siblings, I mostly watch 1000-lb Sisters for Amy Slaton and Tammy Slaton. The beloved unscripted show, which premiered in 2020, is technically about Amy and Tammy, but several of their other siblings get significant screen time too. Though I love seeing what Chris Combs, Amanda Halterman and Misty Wentworth are up to, I’m not interested in watching the show change to give them more screentime. When I check out the show, I’m mostly looking to learn more about Amy and Tammy’s weight-loss journeys.

1000-lb Sisters season 6 aired recently, and it wasn’t hard to notice that the other Slaton siblings were shown more than usual. In the past, Chris, Amanda and Misty would mostly be alongside their more famous sisters, but this season was different. Amanda and Tammy’s feud was one of the season’s biggest storylines, as was Chris’s skin removal surgery. While Amy and Tammy were still the show’s biggest stars, they were sharing the spotlight more than usual. Though it was fun getting to know their siblings better, I’d prefer the show to focus on Amy and Tammy.

1000-lb Sisters Is About Amy & Tammy

They’re The Show’s Biggest Draws

As great as Chris, Amanda and Misty are, for me, 1000-lb Sisters will always be about Amy and Tammy. I tune in for their incredible weight-loss journeys. When the show premiered in 2020, Amy weighed over 400 pounds. Wanting to become healthy enough to have children, she had bariatric surgery and lost a stunning 125 pounds. Amy went on to give birth to two sons, Gage and Glenn Halterman. Having children changed her life completely. She ended her four-year marriage to Michael Halterman, and is currently seeing someone new. I watch the show for her story.

I also tune in to 1000-lb Sisters for Tammy’s story. Tammy weighed over 600 pounds when she made her television debut in 2020, but she’d go on to gain even more weight over the years. She went on to weigh 725 pounds at her heaviest. She gave up on even trying to lose weight, when a health scare changed everything. After being rushed to the hospital and put in a medically induced coma, Tammy realized that she had to do something or die trying. After treating her food addiction and having bariatric surgery, Tammy lost a stunning 500 pounds.

Chris Isn’t Accessible Enough

He Rarely Even Posts On Social Media

Inspired by his famous sisters, Chris has also embarked on an incredible weight-loss journey since making his debut on 1000-lb Sisters. When fans first met Chris, he weighed over 400 pounds. After bariatric surgery in 2022, he shed 150 pounds quickly. His doctor, Dr. Eric Smith, posted an amazing before and after of Chris on Instagram in March 2024. On one side is a photo of Chris before weight loss, and on the right is a recent photo of Chris finishing a 5k run. His weight-loss journey has been fun to watch, but he rarely posts on social media.

During 1000-lb Sisters season 6, Amanda saw the doctor, where she learned that she went from weighing 299 pounds to 268 pounds.

Since losing weight, Chris buckled down and focused on qualifying for skin removal surgery. During 1000-lb Sisters season 6, Chris received his skin removal surgery. In a clip posted to TikTok by TLC, Chris and Brittany meet with Chris’s surgeon in the hospital room after surgery. He looked like a new man as he left the hospital after his procedure with his wife, 36-year-old Brittany Combs. Though I’m a big fan of Chris’s, I don’t want his story to take center stage instead of Amy and Tammy.

Amanda’s Too Much Drama

She’s Entertaining But Too Chaotic

All the Slatons had bariatric surgery, but Amanda had bariatric surgery twice. Amanda’s first surgery took place in 2017, and she went in for revision surgery with a different doctor in March 2023. Amanda had much more dramatic results after her first surgery, and she posted the before and after photos on Instagram. Her second surgery hasn’t been as successful. During 1000-lb Sisters season 6, Amanda saw the doctor, where she learned that she went from weighing 299 pounds to 268 pounds. The fact that Amanda had only lost 31 pounds was devastating.

Wherever Amanda goes, drama and conflict seem to follow.

Amanda’s weight-loss plateau was due to a knee injury that kept her from being able to exercise. On top of Amanda’s weight-loss journey, her love life is also endlessly entertaining. When she made her television debut, she had just finalized her divorce from Jason Halterman. 1000-lb Sisters season 6 ended with Amanda moving to Florida to be with her boyfriend RJ. When he left town and ghosted her, she found herself single again and back in Kentucky. These days, she’s in a relationship with a new man, Leonard Moore, and appears to be happier than ever.

While Amanda’s journey is entertaining, it’s also full of chaos and drama. The hot-headed mother of four always seems to be fighting with one of her siblings. Her feud with Tammy was one of the biggest stories of 1000-lb Sisters season 6. Last season, she physically fought with Amy. Wherever Amanda goes, drama and conflict seem to follow. As entertaining as Amanda is, I think she’s too emotional to carry the show. I hope the show’s producers don’t force Amy and Tammy to share the spotlight with their siblings, because they’re the reason I watch the show.
