I’ll Never Forgive What We Do In The Shadows If Jackie Daytona Doesn’t Appear In Season 6

Summary

  • Jackie Daytona’s return in What We Do in the Shadows season 6 is a must after the SDCC tease.
  • Guillermo’s twist in season 6 sets up a hilarious future for the vampires.
  • Hamill’s Jim the Vampire and Jackie Daytona’s return could make season 6 the best yet.

After the tease given at the What We Do in the Shadows panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, season 6 has got to bring back the fan-favorite Jackie Daytona. As one of the biggest film and television shows reveals of SDCC 2024, the What We Do In The Shadows Farewell Tour Kick-Off panel was one of Thursday, July 25th’s most exciting attractions. Showrunner Paul Simms was in attendance at the panel where the first episode of the upcoming final season was premiered for the audience.

With the first three episodes of What We Do In The Shadows season 6 being released on October 21, 2024, I think it’s only right if Jackie Daytona returns for one final hurrah. Season 6 will pick up after the season 5 finale, during which Guillermo rethinks his decision to become a vampire, a dream he’s had throughout the first five seasons that was finally realized. Guillermo decides to return to a more typical lifestyle, getting a 9 to 5 job in season 6 but soon finds that escaping the vampires will not be as simple as leaving their mansion.

What We Do In The Shadows Season 6 Must Feature Jackie Daytona After That SDCC Tease

Screen Rant was in attendance at the panel and reported Simms saying, ”
I said we would never do it again after the first time but… who knows what might happen in season 6?

During the What We Do In The Shadows Farewell Tour Kick-Off panel on Thursday, season 6 showrunner Paul Simms teased the return of fan-favorite character Jackie Daytona in the upcoming final season. Screen Rant was in attendance at the panel and reported Simms saying, “I said we would never do it again after the first time but… who knows what might happen in season 6?” Jackie Daytona was the shortlived alter-ego of Matt Berry’s Laszlo who only appeared in What We Do in the Shadows season 2, episode 6 titled “On the Run.” That episode, of course, also featured a legendary guest appearance from none other than Mark Hamill, who plays Jim the Vampire.

Getting a Jackie Daytona return in What We Do in the Shadows season 6 could also be the key to getting Hamill to reprise his role in the final season. Hamill’s Jim the Vampire is widely considered the best guest cameo of the entire series, so having both Jackie Daytona and Jim the Vampire back in season 6 simply must happen. Hamill expressed publicly how much fun he had on the set and how much he loved the series. Hamill also had a few surprises of his own at San Diego Comic-Con, revealing that he is the new voice of the Flying Dutchman in the upcoming SpongeBob SquarePants movie.

What We Do In The Shadows Season 6 will feature Guillermo with a brand new job after he realizes being a vampire isn’t all that it’s chalked up to be.

Jackie Daytona Is One Of What We Do In The Shadows’ Best Gags

Jackie Daytona is one of the most beloved gags in all of What We Do in the Shadows, which is why “On the Run” is one of the highest-rated episodes of the entire series. With the final season focusing on Guillermo off in the “real world”, it makes for a perfect opportunity for Laszlo to return to his familiar bartender persona. Ultimately, it would be a big missed opportunity if What We Do in the Shadows season 6 failed to capitalize on Jackie Daytona’s return, especially with Simms himself teasing his return at SDCC 2024. Regardless, it is poised to be one of the best, if not the best, seasons of the series.
