Among the Mysteries you can solve in Indiana Jones & The Great Circle, “Child’s Play” is among the trickiest to figure out at first. This optional side quest rewards you with a powerful combat upgrade if you manage to complete it. However, the instructions for this Mystery are somewhat vague, making it harder to finish than you may expect when you start it.
Similar to the “Timely Arrival” Mystery in Indiana Jones & TGC, “Child’s Play” takes place in the Sukhothai region. Unlike many of the other side quests in this location, you don’t have to worry about encountering any enemies during this Mystery. That being said, you do have to explore more locations than you may expect, which can easily get you turned around if you aren’t familiar with the Sukhothai map.
How To Start The Child’s Play Mystery
Find A Message In A Bottle
You start the “Child’s Play” Mystery in Sukhothai Village, the first area you explore when you arrive in the region. From where you fast travel into this location, head down the stairs next to the NPC fishing to wade into the water that occupies the settlement. From here, you should spot a bottle floating near the stairs that you can pick up.

Taking elements from iconic horror games and melding them into something wholly unique to the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle experience.
Picking up the bottle reveals a message hidden inside it, but Indiana remarks how he doesn’t have the means to open it. Thankfully, you don’t need to find a specific item to open the bottle, so don’t worry about going to the vendor in town. Instead, simply throw the bottle onto the ground to break it, then pick up the message that was within it.
The Rebreather in Indiana Jones & TGC is an important item you can get in Sukhothai Village to solve other Mysteries, so try to purchase it whenever you find the opportunity.
Try to smash the bottle against a solid surface so its message is easier to collect. The First Bottle Message that you pick up begins the “Child’s Play” Mystery, but only after you read it. The small paper you fish out has a drawing of a compass pointing to the northeast, with the message on the back giving you a clue to another message hidden elsewhere.
How To Solve The Child’s Play Mystery
Follow The Directions To Discover More Messages
The first bottle you recover is the first of many containing hidden instructions for you to follow. To solve the Mystery, you have to follow the clues from each message in a bottle until you reach a treasure hidden by the one who arranged these hints. The First Bottle Message asks you to “follow the banners to the northern shrine,” telling you that there is a clue in the tree next to a hut.
Most of the clues to each bottle are all found near Sukhothai Village, so don’t feel the need to fast travel anywhere. This isn’t a Mystery like “The Serpent’s Chest,” where you have to travel all over the world. Pay attention to the First Bottle Message clue and start following the yellow banners within the Village to start pursuing the next hint in this side quest.
How To Find The Second Bottle Message
Following the yellow banners will lead you to the left of the fast travel point in Sukhothai Village. Head down the stairs outside the immediate village to spot three people farming among the crops growing out of the water. From this point, go to the open hut across from the farming NPCs where a yellow banner flies to pursue the First Bottle Message’s clue.
An easy way to remember where the next clues in “Child’s Play” are is to follow the compass directions on each bottle message. Doing this makes it easier to find the clues they mention.
To the right of this hut, you should spot a note in the forking branches of a tall tree. Use Indiana’s whip to lasso down the second message from this tree, then pick it up from the ground. As soon as you inspect the Second Bottle Message, you’ll see another compass image, this time pointing to the southeast.
How To Find The Third Bottle Message
The Second Bottle Message tells you to “walk east and find the tallest bridge,” hinting that yet another clue can be found there. Head up the stairs from where you found this message, then take a sharp right and continue along the path back into the Village. At this point, you should come across a large, arched bridge that you can swim under.
The bridge leads from where you spot it back to another platform hosting a house in the Village. The bottle containing the third message is on a large rock just to the left of where the bridge connects to the Village. This may be visible the moment you see the bridge, so just swim over to the bottle and break it to discover the Third Bottle Message’s clue.
How To Find The Final Treasure
Another compass drawn on the Third Bottle Message points to the south, where the final treasure of this Mystery can be found. The clue on the back of the message states, “Walk south to the village gate” and “Find the boulder where the King sits on his throne.” Indiana mentions that this may reference Phra Ruang, an influential figure in history who defeated the Khmer Empire.
As the message suggests, you need to go past the southern gate of Sukhothai Village beyond the bridges you swim under. In this location, look for the shirtless NPC standing on the small island in the water close to the perimeter wood fences of the Village. Near three different trees here, you can find a large rock with a wooden crate behind it carrying the treasure tied to this Mystery.
Rewards For Solving The Child’s Play Mystery
Gain A New Combat Ability
Pursuing this Mystery in Indiana Jones & TGC to the end will give you multiple rewards, including:
- Phra Ruang Statue (250 Adventure Points)
- Jumbo Shove (Adventure Book)
The statue of Phra Runag is worth Adventure Points, or currency you can use to buy skill upgrades as your adventures continue. While this Mystery doesn’t provide as many Adventure Points as others, the biggest reward here is the Jumbo Shove book. When you read this Adventure Book, you gain the ability to shove heavyweight enemies, giving you an extra tool to use in fights.

10 Best Books To Upgrade First In Indiana Jones & The Great Circle
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has some great books to upgrade in the earlier parts of the game, making everything from combat to climbing easier.
Shoving is already one of Indiana’s best combat features, allowing you to push an enemy back off a ledge or giving you the freedom to retreat. Being able to do this against heavyweights, who are arguably the toughest foes in the game, is a huge bonus. While this is an incredible upgrade, you need to spend 700 Adventure Points to unlock the Jumbo Shove skill once you acquire the book.
You complete this Mystery the moment you collect the Statue, which confirms Indiana’s suspicions about the final clue being connected to history. Those who solve the “Child’s Play” Mystery in Indiana Jones & The Great Circle will have a better set of skills to challenge enemies in Sukhothai, including the dangerous fascists at Voss’ Camp.
