Kody Brown's Victim Mentality Could Cause Sister Wives To End After Season 20 (No One Wants To Feel Bad For Him)

Sister Wives season 19 is currently airing, but Kody Brown‘s unbearable victim mentality could make it the last season of the beloved unscripted series. When it premiered in 2010, it was a show about a happy polygamous family. Things weren’t perfect for the Brown family, but they were making it work. They lived under one roof in a giant house in Utah and were very close. They mostly loved each other, and it was a far cry from the familiar images of polygamist cults that are common in popular media.

Over the years, the show changed into a chronicle of the demise of the Brown family. 55-year-old Kody had four wives and 18 children, but by the time Sister Wives season 19 premiered, three of his wives had walked away from the plural marriage, and many of his older children were no longer speaking to their father. It all happened so quickly for the polygamist patriarch. Suddenly, he found himself in an accidentally monogamous marriage with his fourth and youngest wife, Robyn Brown. Lately, he’s indulged in feeling sorry for himself, and it’s not a good look for him.

Kody Blames Everyone Else

Kody was brutally honest during the second episode of Sister Wives season 19 when describing his early marriage to his first wife, 53-year-old Meri Brown. In an on-camera interview, Kody said Meri changed after they got married, and it became difficult to be around her. He gave an example in which he hypothetically asked Meri if she wanted a piece of gum, to which she angrily snapped back, “you know I hate spearmint.” Kody then laid out a timeline that blamed the family’s dissolution on Meri, saying she was what drove him to more wives.

The Show Might Focus Too Much On Kody & Robyn Than The Other Wives

Sister Wives was a draw because it gave viewers insight into the world of polygamous families. Now that Kody and Robyn are in a monogamous marriage raising their five children, it’s unclear where the show could go. Now that the marriages are over, it probably won’t be long before the show gets its red slip.
