faced delays due to Hollywood strikes, possibly impacting the show’s reception and renewal. - The cast of
Loot
, led by Maya Rudolph, is expected to return for a potential season 3.
Apple TV+ has once again hit the jackpot with the hilarious comedy, Loot, and the Maya Rudolph-led series has now officially been renewed for season 3. Debuting in 2022, the show follows Molly Novak (Rudolph) a recent divorcee who must figure out what to do with the $87 billion settlement she scored from her husband. Hoping to do something good, Novak gets involved with her charity and attempts to rediscover her humanity. With biting satire about class in the 21st century, Loot pressed all the right buttons, especially with Rudolph in the lead role.
When Loot debuted in 2022, it was met with largely positive praise from critics, scoring a respectable 83% on Rotten Tomatoes. Most importantly, it secured a second season after a respectable first outing and stands as one of Apple TV+’s best original shows. While Loot‘s renewal came quickly, the second season was mired in delays due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes which caused its release to be pushed back to April 2024. However, this didn’t cause lasting damage to the show, as it has now been renewed for a third season.
Loot Season 3 Is Confirmed
Apple TV+ Has Renewed The Comedy For A Third Season
Loot was impacted by the writers strikes, and with a missed (original) premiere date for season 2 and the lack of an immediate renewal, there were fears that the show may not return. However, it was announced on July 16th (per Collider) that the comedy will be back for a third season, although details of a release date are yet to arrive. Executive producer Danielle Renfrew Behrens said:
We are thrilled to come back for a third season! We’re extremely fortunate to spend more time with our talented cast and crew. Making this show with Apple TV+ has been a joy, and we can’t wait to reunite with our ‘Loot’ family.
While nothing is known about the new season other than it’s confirmation with Apple TV, now that it’s officially on the way, cast announcements shouldn’t be far behind.
Loot Season 2 Cast
Will Molly & The Rest Of The Wells Foundation Return In Season 3?
Shows like Loot are engaging and hilarious because of their clever and satirical premise, but it is the emotional journey of the characters that gives it staying power over the long run. Fortunately, Loot is chock-full of humorous and heartfelt characters, all of whom should return for season 3. Leading the charge is the ultra-wealthy and still somewhat out-of-touch Molly, who has been played brilliantly by SNL alum Maya Rudolph. The rest of Molly’s friends and staff are expected to return, meaning the cast of Loot season 3 will likely look similar to season 2’s.
Of course, none of these have been officially confirmed yet, but the show simply couldn’t exist without Rudolph, and Danielle Renfrew Behrens’s comments about “reuniting with our Loot family” suggest that most of the regulars from the earlier seasons will also be returning.
The cast of Loot season 3 will probably include:

Loot Season 3 Story
How Will Molly Spend Her Fortune In Season 3?
Loot season 2 ended on a cliffhanger, as Molly was last seen boarding her jet, and it’s not quite clear where she is going – or if she is abandoning her project and her growing feelings for Arthur (Nat Faxon) altogether. The second season seemed, for a while, to be going well for Molly. However, as her Space for Everyone project started to build, she is now facing threats from other billionaires who have no interest in seeing the status quo changing. This is likely to be a big part of the plot for season 3, as Molly will have to figure out how to stand against the community that she is a part of. Undoubtedly, the show will continue to do a great job of digging into the themes of wealth and power, and seeing wealth up against wealth is going to make that even more interesting.
The season will have to start with answering the question of where Molly is going, and if she is simply running away, or if she is already planning her next move. She’ll also, of course, have to deal with the aftermath of kissing Arthur (and being caught doing so), which is more than enough personal drama to balance out the bigger ideas on the show. No matter where it goes, it has at least one more season to follow Molly on her journey.
