Mikey Madison’s history of villain character roles makes me instantly suspicious of her character in the new Apple murder mystery series Lady in the Lake. Madison joined Natalie Portman in her first-ever leading television role, which is based on the 2019 bestselling novel by Laura Lippman. Portman leads an exceptional cast in Lady in the Lake which also includes Moses Ingram, David Corenswet, Y’lan Noel, Brett Gelman, Byron Bowers, Josiah Cross, and Noah Jupe.
Madison is the star of this year’s Palme d’Or winner Anora by Sean Baker, which will be released in the United States on October 18, 2024. Born in 1999, Madison is currently 25 and has already had a celebrated career in film and television. She rose to prominence alongside Pamela Adlon in the celebrated series Better Things (2016–2022). After the release of Anora, which has already generated some notable Oscar buzz, Madison is poised to become one of the breakout stars of 2024.
I Can’t Help But Be Suspicious Of Mikey Madison’s Lady In The Lake Character After Her OUATIH Villain Reveal
Madison was the most unnerving of the violent criminals in Tarantino’s instant classic
The moment I saw Mikey Madison as Judith Weinstein in Natalie Portman’s new murder mystery series, I knew she would be a key character to keep an eye on. Her unsettling performance as one of the unhinged Manson sisters in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood (2019) was sharply unnerving, especially as she connivingly plans to murder “some piggies” with Austin Butler’s Tex Watson and Maya Hawke’s “Flowerchild.”
Although she is not featured extensively in Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood, Madison’s character turns out to be a homicidal criminal in the film whose appetite for violence is downright disturbing. The Tarantino film is also the last project that is set in the ’60s that Madison was in, which like Lady in the Lake, becomes centered around some major crimes. Lady in the Lake is based on the true story of Shirley Parker and Esther Lebowitz, while Once Upon A Time… ties in the infamous Manson family murders.

Mikey Madison’s Judith Weinstein Can Break Her Villain Role Streak
Madison is now a clear suspect in just about every movie and film centered on murder
Madison was also one of the villains in 2022’s Scream, which marks another recent performance as an iconic villain. Of course, Madison has also played less villainous roles such as Kat in the 2021 comedy It Takes Three, but with a track record like hers, she should already be considered a suspect in just about every show or movie centered around murder, which is exactly what Lady in the Lake is. After OUATIH and Scream, it’ll be interesting to see her as a character who doesn’t harbor homicidal tendencies, if not in Lady in the Lake, then most likely in Anora.
