My Hero Academia’s Deku had one of the most divisive endings in chapter #430 of the manga series. After his intense battle against Shigaraki and All For One, Izuku sacrificed his Quirk, being forced to leave the life of a hero behind for seven years. Thanks to the help of his amazing friends, he was given a new chance to chase his dream by utilizing an advanced suit of armor that could replicate his lost abilities.
For many fans, this ending seemed to come out of nowhere, as most of the fandom imagined that he would go on to become a world-famous hero. Yet, a small detail found in chapter #357 might have hinted at this being Deku’s destiny years in advance. While Kohei Horikoshi is not known for his massive use of foreshadowing like One Piece‘s creator Eiichiro Oda, this small hint could have been a nod to the finale he had envisioned for his saga.
Endeavor’s Vision Proves Deku’s Fate Was Already Decided
The Suit His Future Version Is Wearing Looks Similar to his Technological Armor
As he fights against All For One during chapter #357 of the My Hero Academia manga, Endeavor ponders what Shoto’s future might look like. At this point in their fight, the number one hero was sure that he would not make it out alive and wanted nothing more than to imagine his son having a happy and prosperous life. His desire to see his child grow up causes him to see a small vision of the future in which Shoto walks towards his friends as Deku and Bakugo wait for him.

It Took Me Awhile, But I Finally Understand What Makes My Hero Academia So Great, & It’s Not The Battles
My Hero Academia’s fight scenes are thrilling and unforgettable, but it was another aspect of the series that turned me into a lifelong fan.
In the small panel featuring the adult version of Class 1-A’s students, Deku’s costume stands out, as it looks surprisingly like the suit he utilizes in the epilogue of the manga. His gloves and boots are less bulky and more technologically advanced than the ones he used during the Final War arc of the series. This small detail might imply that Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of the manga, had already imagined Deku as a Quirkless hero years before the release of chapter #430. The fact that his classmates also look like their epilogue counterparts adds fuel to this idea.
Deku Was Always a Beacon Of Hope For Those Around Him
This Vision Proves He Will Always Be The Greatest Hero
One of the major criticisms fans had about the ending of the series was the fact that Deku did not become the number one hero. His ending saw him become a teacher, stepping away from his dream career until his friends came to the rescue. Still, Endeavor’s vision might hint at Deku becoming the greatest hero of them all, in his way. When All For One attacked, Enji had achieved his dream of replacing All Might on the top, despite his unforgivable crimes. He was effectively the hero who would inspire Japan’s defenders during the brutal and devastating battle.
Despite his role, when thinking about the future, Endeavor envisioned Deku as the beacon that would lead Shoto to a better tomorrow. This speaks volumes about the respect and admiration Enji had for All Might’s pupils, even when he was still a student. Izuku’s true power was always his unbreakable desire to help others, and the top heroes of Japan are aware of this. Horikoshi might have been trying to hint at Deku achieving his dream of becoming number one, just not in the way fans imagined it would occur.
Endeavor’s Vision Could Have Foreshadowed Deku’s Sacrifice
Endeavor Himself Put His Life On The Line During His Fight
As he lays in bed after defeating All For One in chapter #424, Deku reveals that the reason why he sacrificed his Quirk was to save Shigaraki from himself. This was proof of his outstandingly heroic nature, confirming that he would do anything to save his peers. This sacrifice might have been hinted at during Endeavor’s battle, making his vision of the future that much more significant. Throughout his fight against the Symbol of Evil, Enji was prepared to put everything on the line to save the world.
Although he lost an arm, Endeavor did not stop fighting for one second, confident in the knowledge that even if he died, the other heroes could defeat the villain for him. His attitude during this moment is identical to Deku’s during his final encounter against All For One. He would not allow Tenko to keep suffering, no matter how much damage he had to receive to fulfill his wish. Their similar motivations during their battles might be what pushed Enji to receive a vision of the future heroes of Japan.
While working on his manga, Horikoshi proved his mastery over subtle foreshadowing several times. The My Hero Academia story is one filled with hints about events that would occur in several entries in the future. Endeavor’s vision could be another example of the amazing writing that made this franchise so beloved and iconic.
In My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is not one of them. Deku has always idolized heroes like the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child, he has always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of a quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia centers around Deku and a class of heroes-in-training at UA. This school shapes young quirk users into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the “One-For-All” quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off with dastardly supervillains.
