“Dungeons & Dragons” And “Magic: The Gathering” Are Returning To Comics

Dark Horse Announces New Series & Graphic Novels

[Dark Horse Senior Editor Spencer] Cushing makes it sound as if he, the Dark Horse Comics brand, and everyone involved is dedicated to doing right by both franchises.

Dark Horse Comics will be collaborating with Hasbro’s Wizards of the West Coast to work on new content for both Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons. This will mark the first time since the 1990s that Wizards of the West Coast and Dark Horse worked together to produce a Magic comic, when they produced the graphic novel, Magic: The Gathering: Gerrard’s Quest. Further, it will be the first time since 2010 that a Dungeons & Dragons comic will be published by a company that isn’t IDW, who housed the license for 15 years.

As readers await more information regarding these works and who will be involved in the creative process, Senior Editor Spencer Cushing had this to say:

If you’d told my 12-year-old self I’d get to work with incredible writers and artists to craft comics for DUNGEONS & DRAGONS and MAGIC: THE GATHERING, alongside such thoughtful and creative stewards of these licenses, I wouldn’t have believed you. The opportunity to work with Wizards of the Coast is a dream come true.

Without hinting too heavily at which artists and writers could be involved already, Cushing makes it sound as if he, the Dark Horse Comics brand, and everyone involved is dedicated to doing right by both franchises. As such, fans can rest easy that only the most knowledgeable and passionate creative minds will be attached to each of these projects.
