New Inheritance Image Offers Closer Look At Phoebe Dynevor’s Globetrotting Spy Adventure

A new first-look image showcases the international adventure at the center of Inheritance. The 2025 spy thriller was directed by Neil Burger (Divergent, The Illusionist), who also co-wrote the screenplay with Olen Steinhauer (the creator of Epix’s Berlin Station). It follows Maya (Bridgerton‘s Phoebe Dynevor), a young woman who reconnects with her father (Rhys Ifans of House of the Dragon and Venom: The Last Dance) after her mother’s death, only to be dragged into his secret life as a spy. The cast of the upcoming Inheritance also includes Ciara Baxendale, Kersti Bryan, Daniel Joey Albright, Mitchell Hochman, and Majd Eid.

ScreenRant is now able to share an exclusive first-look image from Inheritance. The image reveals Maya on one of her adventures, attempting to blend in while at an outdoor bazaar with signage in Urdu. While it seems like a relatively peaceful scene, there are multiple figures behind her, some looking in her direction and some in shadow, that serve to underscore the feeling that she is being watched. Phoebe Dynevor’s Character Travels The Globe

This image serves to highlight just how out of her element Maya truly is as she is plunged into the dangerous world of espionage. There are many ways that she feels isolated from the world that she knows, especially considering the fact that she is primarily traveling alone while on her mission. However, suddenly discovering her father’s true identity has likely left her unsettled and unsure of who she can trust, which is made worse by constantly being surrounded by strangers.

This feeling is accentuated by how far she is from her home turf. Although the Bridgerton star is English, and her co-star Rhys Ifans is Welsh, their accents in the trailer for Inheritance would seem to suggest that both characters are American, even though they spend very little time in the United States over the course of the story. Instead, Inheritance brings them far afield, to countries including Egypt, India, and South Korea.

It seems likely that this new Inheritance image is taken from a scene that is relatively early in the movie. This is the case because, even though her situation is trying, Maya will grow to embrace her new life in the world of espionage over the course of the upcoming spy movie, at least to a certain degree. Various scenes show her becoming much more suave and self-assured in spite of her being forced to quickly adapt to a massive change in circumstances.
