A new image from Sinners reveals a bloody Michael B. Jordan. The upcoming horror movie, which follows twin brothers (both played by Jordan) returning to their hometown and finding it besieged by a sinister menace, is the first original movie written and directed by Creed and Black Panther filmmaker Ryan Coogler since 2013’s Fruitvale Station. The Sinners cast also includes Hawkeye‘s Hailee Steinfeld, Skins‘ Jack O’Connell, Moses Jones‘ Wunmi Mosaku, The Batman‘s Jayme Lawson, CSI: Miami‘s Omar Benson Miller, and The Harder They Fall‘s Delroy Lindo.
ScreenRant is now able to share an exclusive image from Sinners. It is a behind-the-scenes shot of Michael B. Jordan being directed on set. Jordan can be seen wearing a blood-stained tank top while standing in water that reaches nearly up to his hips. Behind him, another bloodied performer seems to be kneeling down, with only their shoulders and head visible above the water line. See the full-size image below:
What To Expect From Sinners
The New Image Offers Major Insight
Although the Sinners trailer showcases at least two minutes of footage from the upcoming movie, many of the details of the plot are still being kept tightly under wraps. Other than the implication that they may be supernatural in some way, specific details about the movie’s antagonists, which have been rumored to be vampiric in nature, remain unknown. However, the trailer does offer insight into the key influences of the new movie, which contains key similarities to Stephen King’s vampire novel Salem’s Lot in the basics of the plot about the main characters’ hometown being corrupted by a sinister force.
Salem’s Lot
follows a writer returning to his hometown, only to find it overrun with vampires.
This new image from the Michael B. Jordan movie offers additional insight into its influences. The waterlogged sequence being shot would seem to suggest that the horror movie receives a major injection of adventure genre adrenaline. When taken into consideration alongside a shot from the trailer featuring a character wielding a large firearm, it seems that certain sequences of Sinners will be similar to the Predator franchise, featuring characters fighting back in action-oriented moments that pepper the existential dread delivered by the rest of the movie.
Sinners Will Be An Intense Experience
The Movie Promises To Be A Blood-Soaked Nightmare
Whatever the nature of the threat in the new Ryan Coogler movie turns out to be, the various genres and influences from which Sinners is pulling seem to be united by one key factor: blood. Much of the footage and imagery that has been revealed from the movie so far features is characters being battered and bruised in various ways. This likely means that the movie will be an intense ordeal for its characters from start to finish, providing a memorable horror experience even as it pulls the audience through a variety of subgenres along the way.
