School Spirits Season 2: Everything You Need To Know

School Spirits is a supernatural teen drama that proved to be a hit in 2023, and the series returned for a triumphant second season in early 2025. Released on Paramount+, the show follows a teen girl named Maddie (Peyton List) who finds herself stuck in the afterlife, investigating the conditions of her own disappearance, solving crimes, and adjusting to her new adolescent afterlife. It’s filled with exciting twists and turns while maintaining all the drama and comedy that come with young adult shows, blending the two in a way that feels surprisingly fresh.

Since there were several unanswered questions after School Spirits’ season 1 finale, a second season was an absolute necessity and the positive critical reception also helped the fledgling show’s prestige. This was certainly the writers’ intention, leaving several plot points unresolved and raising even more questions than were answered. Fortunately for those clamoring to know what happened next, more episodes of School Spirits dropped in early 2025, and somehow managed to top their predecessors.

School Spirits Season 2 Cast

The Original Cast Returns Alongside Newcomers

One of the strongest aspects of School Spirits season 1 was its ensemble, and season 2 was always expected to continue that trend. Considering the massive cliffhanger, it only made sense that the entire original cast was confirmed to reprise their roles. Lead by Peyton List as Maddie, the main characters returned en masse and Josh Zuckerman was even given a promotion to series regular in his role as Mr. Martin.

School Spirits season 2 also added several new cast members to the ensemble including Jess Gabor as Janet Hamilton, a character who was discussed throughout season 1 but never seen. Joining Gabor are the likes of Cihang Ma as Quinn, Miles Elliot as Yuri, and Zack Calderon as Diego Herrera.

The shots alternate between Maddie as she sits near a window and is haunted by a reflection of herself in a black hoodie. Meanwhile, fast-cut clips show the intensity of season 2 and even a kiss between Maddie and Wally.

Months after the first teaser, Paramount+ dropped the full trailer for School Spirits season 2 in January 2025. The trailer opens with Maddie questioning whether she’s even really dead, before discovering that her body has been possessed by the ghost of Janet Hamilton. Determined to find out why Janet is targeting her, and to get her body back, Maddie enlists the help of her ghost friends, who must confront their own tragic afterlives to get to the bottom of the Janet mystery.
