Shrinking season 2 has a confirmed release date on Apple TV+, but there’s one significant change. Debuting in January 2023, from Jason Segel and Ted Lasso collaborators Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein, the story focuses on Segel as he plays a therapist who can barely keep his life together after the death of his wife. As his fractured state begins to impact his job, Segel’s character, Jimmy, turns to Dr. Paul Rhodes (Harrison Ford) for advice. The comedy also stars Luke Tennie, Lupita Maxwell, Jessica Williams, Christa Miller, and Michael Urie.

TVLine confirms that Shrinking season 2 will debut on Wednesday, October 16. But in a change from the previous installment, which had 10 episodes, season 2 will consist of 12 episodes.

Shrinking Season 2 Will Have To Address A Big Cliffhanger

There Are Personal & Professional Stakes Ahead

For a lighthearted show, albeit one that is still outwardly emotional, the Shrinking season 1 finale takes a fairly dark turn. In the closing scene, Grace (Heidi Gardner) pushes her abusive boyfriend off a cliff. In a sense, it serves as a long payoff for Jimmy’s questionable tactics as a therapist. As he’s told by Paul, he is alternatively too involved with his patients or too distracted. The latter approach, in Grace’s case, might just mean a character’s death and Grace’s life getting ruined.
