The Star Wars fans demanded it, and the masterminds at Lucasfilm are making it happen: Kelleran Beq, the Jedi Knight played by actor Ahmed Best on film is getting a brand new adventure in the Star Wars: Jedi Knights series from Marvel Comics later this year.
The upcoming time in the spotlight for Kelleran Beq (portrayed by actor Ahmed Best in live action) was confirmed during the Lucasfilm Publishing panel during Star Wars Celebration, revealing the first official cover art for Star Wars: Jedi Knights #8 scheduled to release in Fall 2025. Putting Beq shoulder-to-shoulder with Jedi Master Yoda, and starring in one of the (obviously) coveted ‘lightsaber close-up’ variant covers for the issue, the Jedi Knights release is one that all fans of Ahmed Best’s Star Wars roles will be celebrating.
While other surprise news stories expanding the Star Wars canon may make major waves, like the introduction of a brand new Knight of Ren, for example, those who experienced The Phantom Menace and ensuing prequel reactions will see Kelleran Beq’s rising star very differently. Once the performance capture actor for Jar Jar Binks, and the recipient of fans’ ire, audiences were thrilled to see Best return in The Mandalorian, not just as a Jedi Knight, but as the teacher responsible for saving Grogu (among other Padawans) from Order 66.

After Decades of Corruption, Star Wars Is Ready to Show How Jedi Knights Actually Fight
The Jedi Order was compromised by the Clone Wars, but Marvel’s new Jedi Knights series is epically showing what they once were and are meant to be.
Now, Kelleran Beq will be given a level of attention and focus all his own. With the Jedi Knights comic series described by writer Marc Guggenheim as “mini Star Wars movies” for each issue’s heroes, it’s safe to assume that Beq’s placement at Yoda’s side is no coincidence. We know this story will be set before the events of The Phantom Menace, but any other details remain elusive. Expect that to change in the coming weeks and months, as enthusiasm builds for another chapter in the life of Kelleran Beq.
Ahmed Best’s Hero Takes The Spotlight in Star Wars: Jedi Knights
Following the character’s first appearance in the children’s game show Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenges, Best explained his hopes of continuing Kelleran Beq’s leadership to StarWars.com, outlining a vision he saw for the future of the character (whom he helped personally design):
“I see Kelleran as this journeyman Jedi who becomes a professor, who wants to be a teacher. Not a reluctant teacher, not someone who’s thrown into teaching. Who wants to influence, who wants to show Padawans how to become a greater version of themselves… I want everyone who watches Star Wars to look at Kelleran Beq and go, ‘I believe that guy. I want to follow that guy. Where does he go? What happens next?’
“I think all the best stories are stories that leave you wondering what happens next… I don’t want this to be the end of legacy. I don’t want this to be the end of the story. I want this to be the beginning, and a new beginning. Especially through Kelleran Beq.”
Excited fans and supporters of Kelleran Beq’s expanding place in official Star Wars canon will get to see all of his skills on display when Jedi Knights #8 arrives later this year.
Star Wars: Jedi Knights #8 will be available this Fall from Marvel Comics.
