To unlock the Feelers Out ability for Kay in Star Wars Outlaws, players will need to make Nix jealous. Kay’s adorable little companion is also her partner in crime, and she can use Nix to interact with the world, assault enemies at point-blank range, or pinpoint nearby foes. Making Nix jealous is required to upgrade his ability to detect and mark nearby enemies.
Unlocking abilities in Star Wars Outlaws involves tracking down every Expert character and completing tasks in-game. Most of these involve using Kay’s abilities such as knocking out enemies with melee; however, there are other slightly sillier requirements such as making Nix happy to unlock the Treasure Hunter ability. Luckily, Nix gets jealous rather easily.

Kay must pet another animal to make Nix jealous while Nix is nearby. Kay can give Nix some friendly pets almost anywhere, and they clearly share a close bond. As such, petting another animal will sometimes cause Nix to get jealous. He will typically display jealousy by turning his back on Kay, and Kay may even ask him to “play nice.”
There are quite a few different animals that Kay can pet across the various planets featured in Star Wars Outlaws, but petting any of them should be enough to make Nix jealous.
To find animals, keep an eye out for animals roaming near Kay while exploring. Any animals that can be pets will have a UI prompt indicating that Kay can give them a friendly scratch. Even while exploring Toshara, I managed to easily find animals in Jaunta’s Hope and in the wildlands outside the settlement. As such, it shouldn’t be too difficult to find creatures to pet.
To unlock the Feelers Out challenge, Kay must meet with Rooster Trace on Kijimi and complete her quests. Once complete, Rooster is referred to as The Mercenary in menus.
Completing Feelers Out also requires Kay to:
- Use Nix to fetch a weapon, grenade, and bacta vial three times.
- Complete a Thief Contract without being detected.
Neither objective is particularly challenging, as Kay has a robust set of abilities and equipment for a stealthy approach. In return for completing these objectives and making Nix jealous, players can unlock Feelers Out. This doubles the distance of Nix Sense, allowing Nix to detect and mark enemies for Kay at a much longer range.
While Feelers Out isn’t necessarily one of the best abilities in Star Wars Outlaws, it’s still very useful, particularly if players favor a stealthy approach.
