The cast of the Stephen King adaptation The Monkey is star-studded. The movie, which wrapped principal photography in March 2024, is Osgood Perkins’ follow-up collaboration with distributor Neon after the smash success Longlegs, the serial killer thriller starring Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage that grossed $92.8 million against a budget of roughly $10 million. The Monkey is based on the King short story of the same name, which was published in the magazine Gallery in 1980 and was later collected in the book Skeleton Crew in 1985 alongside “The Mist” and “The Raft,” which were also adapted to the screen.

Since then, the British actor has starred in a variety of notable projects, including a run of major television roles in the 2020s including starring in Sanditon, The Time Traveler’s Wife, The White Lotus, and The Gentlemen. James was nominated for a 2023 Primetime Emmy Award for his White Lotus performance, though he lost to Matthew Macfadyen for Succession.

Elijah Wood as TBA – Elijah Wood, who plays an as-yet unknown character, is best known for portraying iconic fantasy hero Frodo Baggins in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings movie trilogy. However, in recent years he has taken on more and more roles in horror and horror-adjacent projects including starring in the 2012 remake of the divisive slasher classic Maniac, squaring off against Martin Donovan as his estranged father in Ant Timpson’s Come to Daddy, and joining Yellowjackets season 2 as Walter. Wood is also the co-founder of the genre-focused production company SpectreVision alongside Daniel Noah and Josh C. Waller.

O’Brien is best known for playing the younger version of Timothée Chalamet’s Willy Wonka during flashbacks in the 2023 movie musical Wonka, though he has previous Stephen King experience from playing the younger version of Craig (Jaeden Martell) in Netflix’s Mr. Harrigan’s Phone.

Sarah Levy as TBA – Sarah Levy’s character has not been officially revealed at the time of writing, though the same IMDb listing suggests she may be playing “Aunt Ida,” a relative of the twins. Levy is best known for playing lovable Café Tropical owner Twyla Sands on Schitt’s Creek, a sitcom co-created by her brother Dan Levy and father Eugene Levy. More recently, she has appeared in The Holiday Shift and SurrealEstate.
