The cast of the Stephen King adaptation The Monkey is star-studded. The movie, which wrapped principal photography in March 2024, is Osgood Perkins’ follow-up collaboration with distributor Neon after the smash success Longlegs, the serial killer thriller starring Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage that grossed $92.8 million against a budget of roughly $10 million. The Monkey is based on the King short story of the same name, which was published in the magazine Gallery in 1980 and was later collected in the book Skeleton Crew in 1985 alongside “The Mist” and “The Raft,” which were also adapted to the screen.
Perkins, who is the son of legendary Psycho star Anthony Perkins, has made a habit of assembling intriguing ensemble casts for his horror movies. Before uniting Monroe and Cage in Longlegs, he had already worked with stars including Emma Roberts, Kiernan Shipka, and James Remar in The Blackcoat’s Daughter, Sophia Lillis and Alice Krige in Gretel & Hansel, and Ruth Wilson, Lucy Boynton, and Bob Balaban in I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House. The cast of the upcoming The Monkey is no different, combining familiar faces from the genre with intriguing talent, both fresh and familiar.
