Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Superman & Lois season 4, episode 6.Superman & Lois season 4 has presented Michael Cudlitz’s Lex Luthor as the show’s ultimate villain, and the DC series seems to be making a crucial change to the character as he faces Clark Kent. While Superman & Lois season 4’s cast is not as big as in previous seasons, those who remain are being used in an effective manner. That is the case with Cudlitz and his version of Lex Luthor. While Michael Rosenbaum’s Lex Luthor might still be the best live-action version of the Superman villain, Cudlitz is making sure that it becomes a close call.
The character might not have any powers, but that has not stopped Luthor from making the Kents’ lives hell. By transforming Bizarro into Doomsday and controlling him, Lex Luthor manages to kill Superman. Sure, Clark Kent has come back to life. However, Lex gave Superman a permanent weakness, as General Sam Lane’s heart does not make the Man of Steel as strong as he was. Superman & Lois‘ latest episode makes Lex Luthor an even more frightening figure, as it teases a power upgrade that will make him an even bigger threat to Superman.
Superman & Lois Season 4 Sets Up Lex Luthor’s Warsuit For The Show
Lex Luthor’s Warsuit Is Iconic
So far, Lex Luthor has yet to wear his warsuit in Superman & Lois. However, by the end of Superman & Lois season 4, episode 6, it is made clear that the iconic armor from DC Comics will be making its way onto the show soon. The reveal was made by Amanda in a conversation with Lex. After telling Luthor that she chose to side with him, Amanda tells Lex that he is going to need a “killer suit.” It is easy to see where that is headed.
While it has yet to appear, Lex Luthor’s warsuit was revealed in the Superman & Lois season 4 midseason trailer. The footage shows Michael Cudlitz’s Lex Luthor suiting up and flying away. His warsuit looks very similar to John Henry Irons’ exosuit from the series. That is no mistake, as the two characters are connected. When he first appeared in the show, John Henry was thought to be an alternate Earth’s Lex Luthor due to how his suit was made of Lutor Corp technology and recognized him as Lex Luthor. Cudlitz’s Lex could paint it green and purple later on.
Giving Lex Luthor His Iconic Comic Suit Is Perfect For Superman & Lois’ Final Chapter
The DC Series Needs To Go Out With A Bang
Superman & Lois season 4 has been setting up a major super-powered brawl between Superman and Lex Luthor. It was initially thought that the fight would come in the form of the Man of Steel taking on a Luthor-controlled Doomsday. However, with Lois Lane having managed to convince the creature to go away, Lex had to get his hands dirty. With the help of scientist Milton Fine, Lex attempts to win against Clark Kent in a hand-to-hand fight. Despite turning on Red Sun-powered streetlights, a weakened Clark still manages to beat Luthor.
Milton Fine is one of Brainiac’s names in DC Comics.
With no other alternative and unable to let go of his desire to destroy the Kents, Lex Luthor has no choice but to create his warsuit. Besides plot reasons, it makes total sense for Lex Luthor’s warsuit to finally be used in the DC series. Superman & Lois season 4 only has four more episodes to air before the show is over for good. As such, the Superman TV show has to fit in as many cool nods to the comics and elements fans have been asking for as possible before there is no time left.
Lex’s Warsuit Story Means Another Superman Vs Lex Luthor Fight Is Inevitable
The Perfect Way To End The DC Series
One of the biggest draws of Superman & Lois is that the DC series presents fully realized versions of iconic characters. Superman and Lois Lane are parents of teenagers and put Lex Luthor in prison for over 17 years. There is so much history in this world, and using Superman’s biggest villain — also the one he has the most history with in this version of the character’s mythos — is the ideal way to end the show. By making Lex Luthor wear his warsuit, Superman & Lois season 4 evokes the comics like only a few DC projects.

Superman & Lois might be ending, but Clark Kent actor Tyler Hoechlin could jump over to the DCU, and he has a dream role to play, among other options.
Clark Kent managed to beat Lex Luthor in a fair fight, but he got hurt doing so. With Lex Luthor wearing his warsuit, another battle between the two is bound to happen. Since Superman is weaker after coming back to life, Lex could come up with a way to have an advantage in the fight. By using his warsuit, Michael Cudlitz’s Lex Luthor makes the final fight between the characters unpredictable. However, since all cast members return for Superman & Lois‘ series finale, it seems like if he needs help, Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman will get it in Superman & Lois.
Superman & Lois, the seventh Arrowverse spinoff series, will take the titular characters from Metropolis to Smallville. The CW series is set in the aftermath of the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover, which saw the multiverse collapse and the merging of worlds into what is now Earth Prime. Superman & Lois sees Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) and Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) dealing with all the pressures of their jobs, along with being parents to two teenage sons. Lois and Clark are no strangers to the Arrowverse, with Hoechlin’s Superman having been introduced all the way back in Supergirl season 2. Meanwhile, Tulloch’s Lois made her debut in the 2018 “Elseworlds” crossover. The duo is joined by a growing cast of characters that includes a new iteration of Lana Lang.
