Superstore’s Jonah Actor On Whether He’d Reunite With Former Co-Workers On New Hit NBC Medical Show


Superstore‘s Ben Feldman speaks to whether he would ever appear on St. Denis Medical. Feldman is known for playing Jonah, a lead character in the hit NBC workplace comedy Superstore. Following the lives of the workers at a fictionalized version of Wal-Mart, called Cloud Nine, Superstore ran on the platform from 2015 to 2021. St. Denis Medical is another NBC workplace comedy, but this time set in an underfunded hospital. Since its premiere in November, St. Denis Medical has been extremely popular, setting records for Peacock.




In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant for The Mayfair Witches season 2, Feldman addresses the possibility of him appearing on St. Denis Medical. While Feldman said there are no plans “right now” to include him on St. Denis Medical, he would be open to appearing on the show. He believes that Superstore creator Justin Spitzer will likely “go down the list” of Superstore cast members to bring them in for St. Denis Medical. Ben Feldman: Not right now. Justin, who created Superstore, had me play a part on American Auto, his show in between. He brought [Kaliko Kauahi] in for St. Denis, and he’s probably going to go down the list, or it’s going to start to get obnoxious if he just keeps bringing me back.

But I would go on that show in a second. Those are my people. It’s our writers, it’s our crew, Kaliko’s on it. It’d be a dream to go on that show. It’s like a batting order. I’ve got to get to the back and let the other people go.

As Feldman mentioned, St. Denis Medical‘s cast already features one Superstore alum, Kaliko Kauahi. Kauahi plays Val, the front desk worker in St. Denis Medical. While her character is not identical to Superstore‘s Sandra, audience members can recognize some of the actor’s signature humor. If Superstore fans are already drawn to St. Denis Medical, an appearance from someone like Feldman would draw in even more Superstore fans, boosting St. Denis Medical‘s profile.

Some audience members have said that Matt, a nurse on St. Denis Medical, reminds them of Jonah. Several character elements can contribute to this comparison, including that Jonah and Matt are new to the workplace in the series pilots. Both characters also have a sense of mismatch with said workplace, with Matt’s religious background and Jonah’s high education level. The fact that audiences are drawing this comparison shows a continued interest in Jonah specifically, making Feldman’s potential appearance even more exciting.

While audiences would definitely approve of Feldman appearing in St. Denis Medical, I think Feldman makes a good point about the “batting order,” aka the need for other actors on Superstore to appear in the medical series before him. Something I appreciate about the show is the chance for audiences to see more of Kauahi, who played a smaller role in Superstore. It could be great to see the comedy potential of more of Superstore‘s supporting actors, rather than just relying on the leads.
