The One Piece Burger King Collab Explained — And Could It Come To The US?

Popular movie and TV properties have been collaborating with fast-food franchises for decades, so it should be no surprise that One Piece had a collaboration with Burger King — though surprisingly not in the United States. Based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga series of the same name, One Piece first premiered in 1999 and became one of the most popular anime of all time. The series, which has aired over 1100 episodes and is still on the air, centers on the superpowered Michael D. Luffy and his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, as they search for the titular mythical treasure.

Given One Piece‘s massive success in America, it was only a matter of time before Netflix turned the anime into a live-action adaptation. The streaming juggernaut has had mixed success with this, as their 2021 live-action Cowboy Bebop adaptation was a notorious bomb that was canceled after just one season. However, Netflix’s live-action One Piece series was a hit that broke records when it was released in 2023. Given how heavily Netflix promotes their most popular shows, it’s a surprise they didn’t team up with a fast food restaurant similar to the previous One Piece Burger King collaboration.

Burger King Collaborated With One Piece — But Only In France

From January 23 to March 18, 2024, One Piece collaborated with Burger King France, with the popular burger chain featuring two special sandwiches and exclusive merch from the anime. The sandwiches were called the Luffy burger, which featured a standard beef patty with barbecue sauce, and the Sanji burger, a chicken fillet burger with mustard (via Coming Soon).

Burger King France also gave out One Piece trading card packs with the purchase of a King Junior meal. Each pack came with 15 cards, with a total of 60 to collect. However, it’s worth noting that the trading cards featured in the Burger King collaboration are not part of the official One Piece trading card game.

One Piece has a huge diversity of characters that are amazing in their way, but some have come to be more memorable than others.

The collaboration also included two One Piece t-shirts, and diners could select one of them with a purchase of a One Piece meal. Both shirts feature different designs of Luffy and Sanji with a slogan reading “Boat of the Whopper”, and they were available in black or white. Though the One Piece x Burger King collaboration is long over, the t-shirts are available second-hand on resale sites like eBay.

Could The One Piece Burger King Come Back — And To The US?

It’s Not Likely, But Anything Is Possible With Netflix Releasing Season 2 Of The Live-Action Adaptation

The One Piece x Burger King collaboration likely won’t be coming back anytime soon, to the United States or anywhere else. It’s been nearly a year since the Burger King France promotion wrapped and there has been no talk of any future collaboration. However, with season 2 of the One Piece Netflix live-action adaptation confirmed, anything is possible.

The renewal was announced just two weeks after One Piece season 1 hit the streaming service, proving Netflix’s faith in the series. With season 2 continuing the adventures of Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates, and the confirmation of One Piece‘s Baroque Works villains (including Suicide Squad‘s David Dastmalchian), the possibilities for fast food merch are endless.

Filming for One Piece season 2 lasted from June-December 2024, and with no release date announced, it’s likely that the Netflix series’ sophomore installment won’t arrive until late 2025 at the earliest. Any potential Burger King collaboration will likely happen in tandem with the season premiere.
