This Week on Days of Our Lives: Rachel Finally Tells Her Secret, But It Might Land An Innocent Man Behind Bars

Rachel’s secret will finally come out in Days of Our Lives this week, and it will turn several characters’ lives upside down. Rachel (Alice Halsey) has been a spitfire since she was first introduced as a rebellious six-year-old in 2021. She has done more than her fair share of scheming and troublemaking, most notably while her mother was imprisoned. Rachel is a fan-favorite character who fulfills the popular soap opera trope of the precocious but bratty child who is always spying on adults and looking for ways to use her knowledge to her advantage.

Recently, however, Rachel has been dealing with trauma after witnessing Johnny (Carson Boatman) and EJ (Dan Feuerreigel) fighting and Johnny pulling out a gun. She has had frequent stomach aches and crying spells, and Kristen and EJ insisting she can’t tell anyone has made her condition worse. Rachel nearly told Sarah (Linsey Godfrey), and Marlena (Days of Our Lives’ Deidre Hall) overheard her begging someone in her sleep not to shoot. Rachel will not be able to hold onto this secret much longer without completely falling apart, and the truth will begin to surface during the week of June 23.

What’s Happening On Days of Our Lives From June 23-27

Marlena Gets Rachel to Open Up About What’s Bothering Her

The week’s events are leading up to Johnny’s arrest for attempted murder, which will happen on Friday. This week’s episodes will pick up where they left off, starting with Rachel telling Marlena that she witnessed Johnny shooting EJ. Of course, there is likely more to the story than this, and a traumatized, half-asleep child’s statement isn’t strong evidence, but Jada will see it as the break in the case she’s been looking for and take immediate action to arrest and question Johnny. Here are the episode synopses for this week:

  • June 23 – Tony (Thaao Penghlis) returns to Salem with plans to take matters into his own hands. What is he planning? Meanwhile, EJ vows to protect Johnny. JJ finally reappears to play games with Thimas and his parents during a family game night.
  • June 24 – Paul and Andrew marry. Will this be one of those rare Salem weddings that doesn’t get interrupted? Rachel tells Marlena her secret. Shane asks Tate whether Tate might be having second thoughts about giving the baby up for adoption.
  • June 25 – Marlena and Roman confront Johnny together. Sophia seeks help from Melinda. Xander reveals his plan to save Titan-Dimera, but will it work? Stephanie is the latest person to question Philip in the hopes of getting him to change his story.
  • June 26 – Xander and Sarah have another argument over custody. Is he going to succeed in intimidating her? Kate witnesses a warm moment between Roman and Marlena, which makes her question the foundation of her marriage. Stephanie questions Philip about the night Victoria was attacked.
  • June 27 – Xander and Philip finally come to an understanding. Jada has love advice for Stephanie, but will she listen? Johnny is arrested for EJ’s shooting. Despite all the drama, Chad spends a pleasant evening with Cat.

What Big Storyline We’re Following This Week

EJ’s Attempt To Protect Johnny Unravels

Although there are several strong storylines this week, Rachel’s decision to tell Marlena her secret is the most exciting. Rachel has been tormented for the past several months, and keeping what she saw to herself has been bad for her mental and physical health. Additionally, Johnny’s knowledge of what he did that night has contributed to his insistence that he’s not a good person, and EJ has gone to extreme measures to try to protect his son from legal consequences. Thus, several stories will come to a head at once because of the secret coming out.

Days of Our Lives Says Goodbye to Beloved Duo as Young Characters’ Lives Take Dramatic Turns

One Days of Our Lives legacy couple will leave Salem far too soon, but their farewell comes alongside a meaty story for the younger generation.

Days of Our Lives can sometimes be frustratingly slow with its stories, but the payoff is usually worth it, and this story will likely follow that same pattern. The question of Johnny’s involvement has been stuck in a holding pattern since EJ woke up from his coma with no memory of who shot him. EJ and Johnny have gone around in circles, with EJ saying he forgives Johnny and Johnny not wanting his forgiveness, but the reveal comes just as Johnny is considering letting him back into his life. These circumstances should maximize the drama around Johnny’s arrest.

What This Sets Up For Next Week’s Days Of Our Lives

Johnny’s Arrest Could Lead To A Dangerous Situation For Kristen and Rachel

Marlena looks concerned as she listens to Rachel in Days of Our Lives

Johnny’s arrest will have repercussions for several characters. Despite Rachel’s claim that she saw him point the gun at EJ, it’s more than likely that Johnny is innocent of the shooting itself. EJ’s memory card cuts out just after Johnny points the gun, and Rachel doesn’t see him pull the trigger. Additionally, EJ’s deal with Kristen will fall apart because Rachel told someone what she saw. There is no telling what EJ may do to get revenge, especially since the safety of Kristen’s mother depended on Kristen and Rachel keeping their knowledge of Johnny’s involvement in the shooting to themselves.

EJ might renew his feud with Jada because she’s arrested his son or otherwise try to do something illegal to get Johnny out of trouble that only makes Johnny’s circumstances worse.

It’s also unclear whether EJ may betray Johnny, as he asked Rita to return the memory card to him after Chanel threatened him. One possible scenario is that EJ plans to doctor the video to make it appear that Chanel is the shooter, but Johnny is arrested before he can carry it out. Additionally, EJ might renew his feud with Jada because she’s arrested his son or otherwise try to do something illegal to get Johnny out of trouble that only makes Johnny’s circumstances worse. Finally, will Chanel stand by her man after his arrest?

Is Marci Miller Returning To Days Of Our Lives? The Abigail Storyline Explained

Marci Miller played Abigail Deveraux on Days of Our Lives for years before her character was killed off but now it seems like she may be returning.

She’s questioned before whether Johnny could be the shooter, and she’s unhappy that she won’t be able to have children with him any time soon. Days of Our Lives will also move forward with several other storylines, including Sophia going to Melinda Trask for help. Sophia is desperate to ensure her baby is adopted pre-birth before she and Tate can get attached. If she convinces Chanel to adopt the baby now that Johnny’s in jail, that will wreak havoc with Johnny and Chanel’s relationship, making this an additional reason this story is so important.
