Today’s Connections puzzle features many topics focused on actions, locations, and noun concepts that all bleed into one another with similar definitions. Since so many words from the puzzle today are close to one another, I found it pretty challenging to form the right pairings. The best answers today will come from some careful thinking, so you’ll need to be careful to succeed.
Similar to how you may get lost during a Letter Boxed NYT puzzle game, today’s Connections makes some answers seem easy from the beginning. However, even with topics that seem to blend together fast, you still have to think about the multiple contexts from each phrase. With only four chances to make a mistake, you could be fooled enough times to fail the puzzle entirely.

The main strategy I used to solve today’s puzzle was to visualize how every word looks and acts. Some terms from the puzzle today are directly tied to locations, objects, or other nouns you can easily envision. On the other hand, other phrases are tied to verb actions, even if they have another definition that makes them tangible enough to put them in seemingly “easy” categories.
Use some of the following hints to help you narrow down today’s puzzle categories if you aren’t sure where to start looking:
- One category is about things related to places where you would find coins and dollar bills.
- One category is about things related to actions you take to knock something back to you.
- One category is about things related to terms used for identifying statistics on a website.
- One category is about things related to actions you can do using your lips.

This part of the puzzle seemed easy at first, as BANK, ATM, WALLET, and PURSE would all fit together as a category of items that contain money. However, this was not the case, as while ATM is a specific term for a place to hold cash, PURSE and BANK have far more meanings. CASH REGISTER and TIPC JAR are far more specific words referring to places where money is held, so narrowing down ideas is what helped me find the right answer.

Once I realized BANK was not being used in today’s puzzle as a money-related term, I thought of how baskeball players banked shots off a rim during a game. From this, I realized that BANK and BOUNCE were both similar terms for actions, alongside RICOCHET for how objects rebound off surfaces. I had to look up what CAROM meant, but its main definiton fit this portion of the puzzle perfectly.

Given my profession, web analytics is something always on my mind, so I realized that PAGE VIEW could relate to terms surrounding that topic. To have something be successful online, the number of CLICKs or HITs you have reflects its popularity. Similarly, the number of VISITs a website has is also important to track, so all these terms fit together in my mind almost immediately.

This part of the puzzle was easier to solve, as words like SMACK and PUCKER reflect actions that the other phrases in the puzzle didn’t really relate to. After getting past the initial confusion of PURSE, I imagined how PUCKER referenced an action someone does with their lips. From there, I thought about how people CURL or PUCKER their lips to form expressions, allowing me to come to the right answer.
