WEIRD |
I thought there was something FUNNY going on when I saw these words, and it turned out I was right! All of these words have a “Peculiar” connotation in their meanings.
Having ended up in a lot of peculiar situations myself, I was able to guess this category quite quickly. It might also just be the writer in me that wants to come up with as many different words for the same meaning as possible.

JOB |
POSITION |
POST |
STATION |
This category felt fairly straightforward as well, although the next two categories are not so. These are interesting in that all of them can be considered individual tasks under a larger role with the same word. You can be given a “job” at your JOB, and you can have a POST or POSITION within your current JOB role as well. This makes for some interesting wordplay but does not change the difficulty of the puzzle itself.

STAMP |
There are lots of things that people can collect, but these are some of the more famous ones. Personally, I prefer cards myself, but the concept remains the same.
My grandpa used to have books of quarters, and it was fun to occasionally find a new COIN to add to it. I have collected a few COMICs, but nothing fancy enough to be worth much. I am a sucker for STAMPS, but not the collectible or postal kind, as I have a love of school supplies that is unmatched.

CHAIN ___ |

LETTER |
REACTION |
STORE |
I was very disappointed about the lack of “lightning” in this category. However, STORE and REACTION are both exciting in their own way. Chain LETTER and chain MAIL feel like the same thing, so I think either could have been swapped out for something else. Especially since Chain MAIL was the bane of my existence in the latter 2000s as all my friends kept passing the same e-mail around about having bad luck if you did not.

Once you have thought about whether or not your current bad luck is related to that one e-mail you never forwarded like I am, you can try out one of the below puzzles to test that theory.
