Tom Holland
recently addressed his new movie with director Christopher Nolan
. The film, which currently has no title attached, is set to star Holland alongside Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron, with a release date scheduled for July 17, 2026. Although the movie has become one of the most-talked-about projects in Hollywood, details about it, including its genre, remain a mystery. It seems that this secrecy has now extended to the movie’s star-studded cast.
Speaking with Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett on The Dish podcast, Holland described his meeting with Nolan with excitement, sharing that he was eager to learn about the project despite the limited details. While the actor acknowledged that he doesn’t know much about the plot yet, he expressed confidence that the Oscar-winning director would reveal more information when the time is right. Check out Holland’s full comments below:
“To be perfectly honest… I don’t really know what it’s about. I’m super excited, but it’s been pretty quiet about the project. I met with [Nolan] and it was awesome. He kind of loosely pitched what it is, and I’m sure when he’s ready he’ll announce what it’s about.”

Details Still Remain Under Wraps About What Nolan Is Planning Next
Holland’s involvement in a film directed by Christopher Nolan points to a significant career shift. Best known for his role as Peter Parker in the Spider-Man franchise, the star has primarily been associated with action and MCU films. His previous projects, such as Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), focused on big-budget, high-stakes action sequences. On the contrary, Nolan’s films are regarded for their intricacy.
Historically, Nolan cast actors in roles that push them out of their previous acting spaces. Nolan’s previous project, Oppenheimer (2023), featured Cillian Murphy in the leading role, even though his career had been largely built on supporting roles. While specific details about Holland’s character are currently unknown, it’s clear that Nolan’s casting choices tend to expand the scope of an actor’s career. Furthermore, the secrecy would also work in the director’s favor given Holland’s own reputation for accidentally spoiling material in his movies, especially in the MCU.

Nolan’s tendency to keep plot details hidden is a consistent part of his filmmaking approach. Similarly, in films like Dunkirk (2017), Tenet (2020), and Interstellar (2014), the acclaimed director has maintained control over the information shared with the public before release. Holland’s lack of knowledge about the plot further demonstrates Nolan’s preference for maintaining a sense of mystery around his projects. Nevertheless, there has been speculation about Nolan’s next project, which could either be an espionage thriller or a horror. It is expected that more details will come to light since the movie is scheduled to start filming in 2025.
