Warning! Spoilers ahead for Wonder Woman #11!A new threat hasn’t just come gunning for Wonder Woman, it’s stolen the abilities of a mighty DC Universe hero. After months of planning, Amanda Waller has finally launched her attack on the Earth’s superhumans. Working for Waller is the insidious Task Force VII, of which one member takes everything from a powerful cosmic figure.

In Wonder Woman #11 by Tom King and Tony S. Daniel, Diana and the magic heroes are hiding out in the Watergate Hotel while tensions flare between the public and the superhero community. Unfortunately, the hideout is invaded by Paradise Lost, one of Waller’s Amazos who has come looking for heroes to drain.

After the robot steals Constantine’s powers, Jim Corrigan transforms into the Spectre. By the time Diana realizes what Paradise Lost is doing, the Amazo has already robbed Spectre of his mighty power. The heroes try to stop the android, but with Spectre’s powers, the Amazo is unstoppable.

Wonder Woman’s New Foe Just Stole the Spectre’s Powers

Paradise Lost Drains the Spectre DC

Amanda Waller spent the last several months in the shadows working to take down the Earth’s superhumans once and for all. After acquiring all the assets she needed, Waller set her plans into motion using AI-generated videos to draw the heroes out into the public. Once she had them right where she wanted them, Waller unleashed her team of Amazos out into the world to de-power every single hero they came into contact with. Even Superman wasn’t able to stave off Task Force VII as they continued to steal the powers and special abilities of every hero they could.

Task Force VII has only been on the scene for a brief period, but they’ve already assumed some of the strongest heroes’ powers. Last Son drained Superman, his son, and Superboy. Jadestone stole Green Lantern’s powers. And Velocity was seen stealing from the entire Flash Family. But Paradise Lost has stolen from the Spectre who, as the Presence’s Spirit of Vengeance, is seen as the most powerful magic user in the DC Universe. That poses big problems for Wonder Woman. There’s no doubt she’s powerful, but beating Spectre-level power? Even Wonder Woman can’t manage that feat.

Wonder Woman’s Outmatched by Her New Foe

Paradise Lost Uses Spectre's Power DC

Diana’s situation is the same as nearly every other hero at the moment. No powers and facing a threat that could easily quash her. Wonder Woman’s been in some tough scrapes before, but this is a different game. Maybe she’d have a shot if she had her powers. But without them? There’s no way she can defeat Paradise Lost, not in a direct fight at least. Hopefully, Diana has a backup plan because Wonder Woman’s not winning as long as her new villain has the Spectre’s godlike power.

Wonder Woman #11 is available now from DC Comics.

Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman is the superhero identity of Diana, Princess of the Amazons. Created on the island of Themyscira, Wonder Woman is a super-powered demi-goddess with extreme physical strength who utilizes magical gifts (like her famous Lasso of Truth) to defeat her foes. As mighty as her fellow heroes Superman and the Justice League, Wonder Woman is unmatched in her compassion and virtue.
