Amidst the buzz surrounding the release of the final volume, My Hero Academia‘s creator has revealed that he is already working on his next manga series, and it may not be too long until fans get to read it. Despite hopes for a sequel to My Hero Academia, the series has conclusively ended with volume 42. That said, Kohei Horikoshi’s career as a mangaka is far from over with a new interview with Marvel revealing a new manga series is already on the horizon.

In a recent interview with Marvel, Kohei Horikoshi finally broke the silence on his plans for the future, revealing that he is planning to start a new manga series as soon as possible. Horikoshi admitted to feeling pressure surrounding his next move given the massive success of My Hero Academia but revealed that he has already slowly started writing and drawing the designs for his next manga.

“I feel really lucky over the success of
MHA
, so I know there’s a lot of pressure around my next move. I’m planning to start a new manga as soon as I possibly can. “I was thinking to committing myself to simply drawing my next project, and letting someone else write the story, but my editor advised me ‘It will be better if you do it all yourself.’ With that in mind, I’ve slowly started writing and drawing the thumbnails of my next manga. However, there are still several events left surrounding
MHA
, so for a while I’ll still be committed to supporting and promoting it.”

It is still unclear what kind of series Horikoshi’s next manga will be, but given the exceptional writing of My Hero Academia and Horikoshi’s unrivaled skill as an artist that has been honed over the last decade, whatever he chooses to create next will surely be worth keeping an eye out for.
